Our full process manufacturing facility includes plastic extrusion lines and high-pressure nitrogen gassing. The manufacturing facility utilizes all three stages of a proprietary process to create foam that is superior in strength, consistency, quality and purity superior to foams produced by other methods. Products are used in a wide range of markets including automotive, aviation, aerospace, construction, medical, health and beauty, packaging, transporting, and sports and leisure.
Reporting to the President, this position is responsible for leading the site engineering and maintenance functions to support operational effectiveness and to implement and manage continuous improvement. Effectively plan, direct, coordinate, manage and deliver timely, cost-effective professional engineering services essential to the Company’s capital equipment and other designated programs in a resourceful and efficient manner. The ideal candidate will possess leadership ability with fundamentally sound management practices and strong inspirational leadership to create a vision for operational excellence. Overall, this role will be an integral player regarding our business strategy and organizational performance.
Major Responsibilities / Duties:
- Responsible for the effective maintenance of all operational plant and equipment reviewing and ensuring that the annual maintenance plan is tailored to the needs of the business and ensuring risks and dependencies have been applied to plan. Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
- Lead, manage, and develop a high performing, customer focused maintenance team; and encourage a continuous improvement approach, maximizing plant and equipment availability.
- Manage the maintenance budget ensuring on-going review and all necessary corrective action plans are taken to meet targets. Plan and communicate resource (labor and financial) requirements.
- Plan and coordinate with all departments for shutdowns and maintenance plans. Ensure dependencies and risks have been applied to plan and that business recovery plans are in place to deal with major failures.
- Plan, direct and co-ordinate the design, construction, modification, commissioning, and performance of equipment & machinery in the plant.
- Perform overall quality control of capital projects and engineering work (budget, schedule, plans, performance) and report regularly on project status.
- Prepare specifications for bids and issue solicitations to potential vendors, collect and evaluate bids, and make recommendations.
- Prepare capital expenditure approval applications including preparation of, layouts, drawings and estimates for review.
- Assist with design verification and approvals or sign off.
- Ensure concise and regular contact and communications with internal and external work groups.
- Establish an efficient course of action, including a project management plan; track tasks against the project timing plan assuring accuracy of project schedules and budget.
- Coordinate and manage vendors and contractor performance against project plan and budget ensuring compliance with company safety guidelines; comply with company policies and procedures and maintain their allocated areas in a clean and safe manner.
- Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions. Identify, resolve and communicate issues as they arise throughout projects.
- Recommend improvements or redesigns for equipment to meet safety, quality, production and other goals.
- Monitor and identify future equipment needs.
- Maintain all necessary project documents/drawings and other files in sufficient detail to meet internal and statutory requirements.
- Adhere and comply with applicable codes, safety requirements and regulations, QA/QC, practices, policies, procedures, performance standards and specifications.
- Defines, establishes, implements, and communicates the strategic directions of the organization’s operations.
- Collaborates with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operations.
- Collaborates withal departments to carry out the organization’s goals, objectives, and daily operations.
- Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.
- Ensures that departmental decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the organization's business plan and vision.
- Establishes, communicates, and implements operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution.
- Creates and supports a trusting collaborative team culture that enables growth, development, and holds staff accountable.
- Reviews and approves cost-control reports, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for projects.
- Establishes and administers the department’s budget.
- Presents performance reports and metrics to the President, Global Directors, and other leadership.
- Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in operations management.
- Identifies training needs and ensures proper training is developed and provided.
- Fosters team and cross-functional relationships; collaborates with the leadership team to establish policies that promote company culture and vision.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Essential skills/experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering; or equivalent degree
- 10 years of industry-related experience including 5+ years project management experience in a manufacturing environment with high-pressure equipment processes (a combination of education and proven results-oriented experience will be considered) and 3+ years in senior management required
- Familiarity with ASME Code for high pressure gas systems
- Related functional knowledge of Electrical/Mechanical/Instrumentation/Metallurgy/Process Control
- Excellent knowledge of design and visualizations software such as AutoCAD with ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Familiarity with Kentucky regulations, OSHA and EPA regulations related to manufacturing facilities
- Demonstrated skills in designing equipment, plant and processes, including an employment history with a proven track record of managing capital projects
- Results/target focused; work to tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- Analytical, highly organized with solid time management skills
- Detail oriented, high level of accuracy, exercise sound judgment, diagnose problem analysis and problem solving, and decision making
- Ability to take initiative, assume responsibility, plan, organize, and execute with excellence

- Ability to understand and follow safety standards and complex government regulations.
- Above average computer skill and proficiency, particularly with the Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project
- Demonstrated proven experience in developing/transforming a team and effective environment
- Proven history of accomplishment in the servicing of internal and external customers
- Lean Manufacturing and ISO 9001:2015 experience
