Commodore Realty is looking for a General Counsel & VP of Leasing, Tenant Relations & Acquisitions to join our dynamic leadership team. In this role, you will be responsible for handling all legal matters, managing, supervising and executing all facets of leasing our company-owned commercial real estate portfolio consisting of retail and grocery anchored shopping centers.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience negotiating commercial leases, sales, and other real estate transactions; and working knowledge of affiliate business models: mortgage, title, and insurance. Candidate will need to handle day-to-day real estate matters, while being capable of learning on your feet and thriving in a fast-paced environment. Interview and complete underwriting on tenants and then prepare & negotiate letters of intent, leases, renewals, assignments, and amendments for new and existing tenants. Work with existing tenants to resolve issues, improve landlord/tenant relationships, and hold tenants accountable under the lease. Manage leasing department including supervision and motivation of Real Estate Associates and the marketing company/person. Integrate new tenants into property and CRI systems smoothly by working with accounting and property management. Analyze, underwrite, prepare/negotiate LOI’s and contracts, work through due diligence, and manage closings of new acquisitions.
This is an "in-person" position which will be based out of our office located in Key Biscayne, Florida. Schedule is Monday to Friday from 9 am to 7 pm.
Responsibilities
· Draft/negotiate commercial leases, construction/vendor contracts, employment agreements, brokerage/commission agreements, resolving landlord/tenant and property management issues, and supervision of outside counsel.
- Draft, revise and negotiate real estate letters of intent, leases, renewals, assignments, amendments and termination for new and existing tenants.
- Manage, review and prepare ancillary real estate documents (amendments, NDAs, estoppels, etc.)
- Act as lead counsel in purchase and sale transactions
- Existing Tenant Management - Support leasing, property management, accounting, and other company staff in enforcement of the lease.
Requirements
- J.D. with strong academic credentials
- Bar admission in Florida
- At least five years of legal experience, including substantial experience in real estate handling commercial leasing and related matters
- Strong drafting and analytical skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Experience negotiating directly with opposing counsel
- Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently as well as on teams with diverse personalities and skill levels
- Flexibility and eagerness to take on new responsibilities
- A creative problem solver who is open to new ideas and new approaches
- Sound and practical business judgment
- Proven track record of, working proactively and being resourceful

Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice law in Florida
- Strong knowledge of contract law and property maintenance regulations
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
