Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Ensures payroll is processed with speed and accuracy and that it accurately reflects City specific pay policies
Oversees the audits and reconciliation of pay records
Coordinates third party payroll system implementations and upgrades
Interprets pay policies and stays current with changes in payroll laws
Verifies compliance with federal and state payroll requirements
Documents payroll processes and procedures
Interprets internal processes and applies organizational policies
Manages daily leave tracking and verification
Administers various trainings for line managers
Administers payroll overview bi-weekly to new hires

Has formal supervisory authority over work group to include discipline, performance management, scheduling, training, etc.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of concepts, processes, and tools of payroll accounting
Knowledge of relationship of professional disciplines among related organizations and functions
Excellent customer service
Strong accounting, payroll, and GAAP knowledge
Skill in identifying operating issues and developing solutions
Strong skills in Microsoft Office, accounting and payroll software (Kronos and Oracle Time & Labor), and other financial databases
Ability to apply experience and professional knowledge to carry out most assignments in professional area
Supervision Received
Reports to the Airport Business Manager II - Payroll
Normally receives guidance regarding overall mission, short-term and mid-term objectives, scheduling, unusual priorities, etc. but is free to set work methods, timetables, performance standards, etc.
