Brief Job Description: The Peer Mentor Program (PMP) Leads are an essential part of the Peer Mentor Program and Office of Mentoring Programs. The PMP Leads will support the professional staff with administrative tasks, team development, implementation of program initiatives, special projects, data collection and reporting, and other duties as assigned. The PMP Lead will work under the supervision of the Mentor Advisor and will be required to attend and participate in training, staff meetings, workshops, etc., throughout the year as well as demonstrate a commitment to their team and the department goals and expectations.
Job Responsibilities:
PMP Leads are expected to be positive role models for student staff, positive representatives of the Peer Mentor Program and maintain a positive attitude. It is also expected that they are able to demonstrate an ability to work with all populations, professionalism, excellent communication and listening skills, responsibility, accountability, integrity, and a desire to learn, grow and develop as a leader.
- Peer Mentor Supervision
- Assist with mentor development focused one on ones on a bi-weekly basis
- Assist with staff meetings on a weekly basis
- Co-lead & facilitate staff development activities/training and staff bonding activities
- Mentor student staff when appropriate on mentoring, academic or personal issues
- Support student staff efforts within teams focused programming, team development, social media, etc.
- Mentor recruitment
- Tabling at job fairs and other designated times throughout the year
- Coordinate current Peer Mentor Panels, Q&A sessions and class presentations.
- Set up interviews
- Mentoring Services
- Hold office hours in Peer Mentor Program office
- Address walk-ins needs and make appropriate referrals
- Mentee recruitment
- Tabling at orientation, resource fairs, events, etc. and class presentations
- Email outreach to interested students and target populations
- Collaborate with outreach programs like TRiO, GEAR UP, S2S, etc. to reach incoming freshmen
- Attend high school outreach events when appropriate
- Initiative Support/Lead
- Lead small groups of mentors focused on college/department specific mentoring initiatives
- Act as a liaison between PMP and assigned college/department to maintain consistent and timely communication regarding mentors, projects, events, etc
