Albuquerque Multi-service Group Home operated by AMIkids Sandoval provides emergency transitional living and supportive services for males ages 13-18 referred by protective services, juvenile justice, parental unit, or tribal social services based on a finding/suspected finding of abuse, neglect, delinquency, substance use, or other at-risk problems.

Position Summary
The Academic Coach ensures youth focus on academic studies while building effective advisory relationships with youth. Uses a variety of tools to engage youth while working in assigned curriculum and applies various educational support strategies that meet youth individualized needs. Works closely with educational staff to monitor the youth academic progress and provide academic support.
What you will be doing
- Monitor youth utilization of online curriculum,
- Utilize various instructional resources to support academic instruction,
- Always serve as an advisor and positive role model for youth,
- Apply appropriate classroom management techniques and reports escalated behaviors to site-based administration,
- Lead youth in daily and/or weekly advisory sessions to monitor youth academic progress,
- Provide intervention strategies, when needed, to assist youth with course pacing and understanding,
- Meet with youth and parents/guardians to discuss challenges and obstacles engaging in the curriculum,
- Support workforce development activities and career pathways for all eligible youth,
- Empower youth through effective incentives and monitoring strategies,
- Utilize a hands-on approach when tutoring youth,
- Adhere to compliance requirements for program implementation,
- Maintain appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance,
- Attend and maintain CPR and First Aid certification by nationally recognized organization,
- Administer First Aid and CPR during emergencies in accordance with National standards,
- Attend and maintain appropriate crisis intervention and physical restraint training and certification as defined by state and contract requirements,
- Actively participate in day trips and special activities that involve recreational sports, facility and equipment cleaning, ground maintenance and equipment relocation,
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; degree preferred,
- Two (2) years of experience working with middle or high school-aged youths.
**Preferred experience working with at-risk youth (this is not a deal-breaker), we can provide training to allow the right candidate to be successful in working with our Youth.
