Job Summary
Learns to manage an assigned underwriting territory of agencies. Learns to select or decline accounts submitted from the agents, acting within clearly defined underwriting authority levels, guidelines, and philosophies. Learns to perform agency management responsibilities that involve analyzing, monitoring, and evaluating assigned agencies to identify potential concerns or trends within a book of business. Learns to work with assigned agencies to influence the overall profitability, quality and composition of each agency’s book.
Schedule
Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET / Hybrid after conclusion of training
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education: Bachelor's Degree or professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, or equivalent, related experience.
Experience: Prior Commercial Lines experience required
Knowledge: Limited to moderate knowledge of industry practices, standards, and concepts within field of work. Learns to apply them to the job.
Decision Making: Learns to make decisions and recommendations for varied situations, applying judgment to interpret related information, policies, and procedures. Decisions generally impact specific tasks.
Supervision Received: Works independently under moderate to general supervision, receiving specific and detailed instructions on new types of work.
Leadership: Works as an individual contributor. Learns the job.
Problem Solving /Operations/Direct Work Involvement: Applies knowledge to help solve problems of relatively limited scope and complexity which require independent thinking.
Client Contacts: Contacts other departments and or external organizations or parties frequently. Contacts are primarily at or below middle management levels. Communication is primarily task-related and involves creating and delivering varied types of messages and information.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Commercial Lines Rating.
Completion of Introduction to Insurance or at least one INS, AU, AIC, or AEI Claims Law course in the last three years is required.
Demonstrates ability to exercise business judgement, effective oral and written communications, sales and negotiations skills, analytical skills, and time management.
