Job description
We are a family owned company looking for a personable, experienced HVAC service technician who loves to problem solve to join our great team. You’ll be responsible for a variety of work orders, visiting homes and businesses to work on HVAC, indoor air quality, refrigeration, and control systems. The ideal candidate has the technical skills to identify and isolate problems, is familiar with using hand and power tools, and has strong communication skills to explain what needs to be repaired, replaced, or installed, and why. Your expertise in equipment repair and mechanical knowledge will be crucial in ensuring the optimal performance of HVAC systems. When necessary, you’ll upsell customers on preventative maintenance plans and indoor air quality products and services.
HVAC Service Technician Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance and installation of HVAC equipment in homes and businesses
- Diagnose and repair HVAC problems, including component installation and replacement
- Estimate costs of installation, repairs, and services to customers
- Complete preventative maintenance and warranty services for customers
- Read and apply electrical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and wiring diagrams
- Test newly installed components to ensure proper function
- Maintain records of completed projects and parts used
- Keep accurate records of work performed
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning and replacing filters
- Follow safety protocols and adhere to industry regulations
- Collaborate with other technicians and contractors on larger projects
- Conduct tests to ensure proper functioning of HVAC systems
- Repair or replace defective equipment, components, or wiring
HVAC Service Technician Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Certification or associate’s degree from an HVAC program at a technical school or 2+ years experience in the field as an HVAC helper or equivalent
- EPA 608 refrigerant recovery certification required
- Must have required state and local HVAC technician licenses
- Current driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex HVAC issues
- Proficiency in equipment repair and property maintenance
- Strong mechanical knowledge and aptitude
- Ability to lift 50 lbs or 100 lbs with aid
- The candidate must have excellent problem-solving and communication skills, and a can-do attitude
