About the Position
The Office of Public Information of Montgomery County Government is seeking an advanced level Senior Executive Administrative Aide to support a busy communications office in Montgomery County, MD, which borders Washington, DC area.
This position provides support to the Director of the Department, as well as staff and initiatives. The position requires knowledge of the priorities and top initiatives of the director, the County Executive, County Council, County departments, as well as other key stakeholders and customers.
The Senior Executive Administrative Aide performs a variety of administrative support assignments that include duties such as scheduling meetings and events developing, maintaining and editing documents, creating and updating reports, handling human resources and financial matters, as well as a variety of sensitive and confidential matters. This position requires effective follow-through on a wide variety of communication issues, tasks, questions, and problems, often with tight deadlines. While this position does not directly supervise staff, there will be assignments to plan, manage, direct or coordinate employees and contractors regarding County events and press conferences and will review/confirm contractor work and invoices.
The successful candidate for this position will demonstrate a high level of performance when utilizing technical and administrative skills. These include, but are not limited to: utilizing varied and deep sources of job information; engaging in substantive planning and scheduling; fostering partnerships and communication channels amongst County staff; making important administrative decisions using sound judgment; identifying the significance and priority of events and tasks thoroughly; applying advanced interpersonal skills to interact effectively with people in a business-like, service-oriented manner; seamlessly switching between tasks and effectively managing multiple tasks and competing priorities; establishing and maintaining administrative procedures including the handling of paper and electronic records and files; collecting and organizing data and information from a variety of sources for preparation of reports, budgets, and other documents; performing mathematical computations to plan and track spending; and supporting cohesion, teamwork, and employee recognition within PIO.
The Senior Executive Administrative Aide position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills; conflict management and resolution skills; and effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities. The selected candidate must demonstrate personal accountability, effective planning skills and the ability to establish and assign priorities, with a strong customer-service focus.
This position serves as the lead administrative staff for the Department. his position will be eligible for telework consideration after successful completion of the probationary period. Any telework hours will be in tight coordination with the PIO Director's schedule and departmental needs. Office hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Telework opportunity may be available.
