Summer elementary school staff will support one of these locations: Laurel Hill, Hillcrest, Ridge Circle, Otter Creek, or Channing Elementary School.
- Two days of professional development are required for summer school. Those dates are June 3, 2024 and June 4, 2024.
- Summer School begins on June 5 and ends July 3. Summer school occurs Monday through Friday with no school on June 19, 2024 to celebrate the Juneteenth holiday. Staff must be available on all days during the summer school sessions.
- Summer staff is expected to be at school 15 minutes prior to the school day and 15 minutes after the school day concludes. Teachers will have a planning time every day.
- Staff hours: 7:45 am - 12:15 pm
- Student school day: 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
- ETA members will be paid the Instructional Rate

Function / Position Summary
Enhance the student’s mastery of concepts and academic skills in targeted subject areas based on student/classroom needs. Reinforce classroom instruction for individual student or small/whole groups. Uphold School District U-46 ICARE Standards. Perform duties and activities under direct supervision of a certified staff member. Adhere to published policies and procedures distributed by the district and school. Maintain confidentiality of student, staff and department information within the school and community.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
- Implement individual or small/whole group instructional lessons or related activity under the supervision of the assigned certified teacher.
- Document and report student behavior as directed by the teacher.
- Collaborate with the teacher, prepare and maintain materials.
- Monitor the loading and unloading of student buses at school and on trips during work hours as assigned.
- Escort students within the building, as directed by the classroom teacher.
- Attend meetings and staff development activities as assigned, providing observations and reports as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education
- Para Educator, Substitute, or Professional Educator License (PEL) required.
- Minimum education requirement for a Para Educator License is completion of at least 60 semester hours of college course work or a passing score on the ETS Para Pro exam or two specific Work Keys exams.
- Bilingual - Spanish/English (written/verbal) preferred.
Experience / Knowledge
- Effective communication skills.
- Experience working with students in an educational setting preferred.
Physical Demands
- Excellent physical agility and quick response time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

- This is a temporary position. Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education. U-46 reserves the right to terminate the position by the third day of student attendance if a minimum number of students do not register or enroll.
