General Summary:
Under general supervision of the maintenance supervisor, the General Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings, requiring practical skill and knowledge in such as painting, carpentry, and masonry work. Perform preventive maintenance requirements on equipment as it pertains to the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain and repair specialized equipment and machinery found in cafeterias, laundries, hospitals, stores, offices, and factories.

Typical duties include troubleshooting and fixing faulty electrical switches, repairing air-conditioning motors, and unclogging drains.

New buildings sometimes have computer-controlled systems that allow maintenance workers to make adjustments in building settings and monitor for problems from a central location.

Must be able to use hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, saws, drills, wrenches, and hammers, as well as specialized equipment and electronic testing devices

Replace or fix worn or broken parts, where necessary, or adjust to correct malfunctioning
-
Use joint compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls.

Performs minor repairs on cabinets, drawers, and countertops.

Replaces damaged ceiling tiles, floor and carpet tiles.
-
Install or repair door locks, and hinges.

Performs general maintenance on equipment and machinery.

Touch up painting or patching of walls.
-
Work along with team members to maintain the maintenance and upkeep of the facility grounds.

Assist in other duties when ask to do so.

May be required to do grounds maintenance

Able to understand verbal or written direction from lead, supervisor or other craftsmen.

Able to read, write and comprehend written instruction proficiently. Must be willing to document tasks performed on a daily basis.

Assist others as part of the maintenance team as required

Performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements:
-
High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience working in an outdoor or indoor building environment
-
Be able to read, write, and understand English.

Must be able to pass a background check
-
Valid Driver License required with a good driving record
Working Conditions:
-
Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions.
-
Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable.
-
May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
