The bright, assertive professional we select will act as a residential garage door sales representative for new and existing clients. This dependable self-starter will meet with current and potential clients to evaluate their homes and present options to repair, service or replace their current garage access systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Identifies customers unique needs/desires related to their garage doors and openers; then matches those with specific product and service offerings to create ideal solutions
- Develops product and pricing proposals for each opportunity and presents those to the homeowners in person
- Maintains the quote log and other sales activity reporting as required
- Adheres to quote and estimating standards, including forms and processes which drive timeliness, accuracy, ethics and professionalism
- Ensure all quotes and bids adhere to gross margin expectations for the division
- Build and maintain relationships at all levels of customers and potential customers
- Establish NS’ credibility with customers, acting as a solution provider
- Fully understand NS’ available products, make recommendations and explain product application to customer
- Review supplier confirmations to ensure correct products have been ordered and the shipping date is accurate
- Communicate with the Operations department for project requirements, specifications and scheduling
- Proactively support the NS safety program and initiatives, comply with all safety policies and procedures and ensure utilization of safe work practices while on site and in the office
- Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules
- Site inspections of all jobs prior to the installation date, and follow-up visits as necessary
- Participate in Trade and Home shows
- Evenings and weekends are required based on customer needs
- Participation in various networking groups and other lead generation activities are required
- Other duties may be assigned
Experience
- 3+ years of progressive experience in direct to consumer (B2C) sales, preferably in the home improvement, building products or service/installation industry
- Sales, estimating, and job coordination or related experience is beneficial
Technical & Practical Skills
- Strong negotiation skills and persuasive ability
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
- Strong organization and decision-making ability
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, etc.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as margin, mark up, discounts, percentages, area, volume, etc.
- Attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of MS Office suite; Word, Excel, Outlook
Willingness to learn products, systems and processes

Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, construction, or related field is preferred
- A record of continuing education in related topics is desirable
