At Abbey Hill, our Therapeutic Security Officer (TSO) functions with our interdisciplinary clinical team responsible for contextual operations within autonomous, safe, community-based atmospheres.
Empowered and supported by education, training, and necessary resources to strategically extend direct care, emotional support, and daily supervision for high acuity adolescents with trauma, challenging behaviors, intellectual, and developmental disabilities.
Comprehension of all policies, procedures, rules, and regulations following them appropriately. Making certain that milieu expectations and directives are always adhered to.
Performs the duties and responsibilities for a wide range of client safety assignments adhering to onsite protocols necessary to deliver critical services as well as offsite activities for our clients.
Works utilizing a trauma informed model in which clients are verbally guided and kept apprised of changes to routine, environment, medical schedules, etc.
Trained in crisis prevention and intervention supporting children while maintaining emotional self-control.
Applies de-escalation techniques which may include physical management (SCM) during setbacks to modify or control clients’ disruptive behaviors.
Strategizes with internal/external team members to provide relevant everyday information regarding youth behaviors, modeling strategies, and daily progress.
Performs routine room and home inspections, ensuring a clean, safe, and secure setting for children to thrive.
Deploys emergency response maneuvers. Along with members of our clinical team, to address client safety which may include calming clients’ disruptive and/or violent behaviors or threats of self-harm.
Must remain vigilant, clever attention to details and perform under stress on a continuous basis.

Represents the organization with integrity, cooperative spirit, adherence to support plans, and respect for the children we serve.
