Nature of Work
The Infant and Maternal Mortality Review Program process is a method of understanding diverse factors and issues that contribute to preventable deaths and identifying and implementing interventions to address these problems. The knowledge gained from the reviews may be used to enhance services, influence public health policy, and direct planning efforts intended to lower mortality rates.
This Nurse 3 position is responsible for abstracting clinical information from medical records for infants that died within one year after their birth and for mothers who died during pregnancy or within one year of being pregnant.
