Junior/Senior High Teacher Job Description
PURPOSE: PREPARES STUDENTS FOR MEANINGFUL LIVES by contributing to their educational, social, and spiritual development. This will assist MVCS in fulfilling the mission of the school, which is to glorify God by preparing students for college, career, and Christian ministry and for life through a program of academic excellence established in Biblical truth.
Essential Job Requirements
- Employee is a mature, born-again Christian who fully supports the Statements of Faith and Responsibilities of MVCS and performs in such a way as to fulfill the school mission and purpose.
- Employee is an active church member in good standing at a local Christian Bible believing church.
- Employee will daily model the set of values that create our MVCS Christian culture.
- Employee will always exhibit a positive, supportive attitude through their words and actions about MVCS toward students, families, and the outside community.
- Employee cooperates with the staff and administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school.
- Called and committed to the ministry of MVCS. Employee does not regard their responsibilities as just a job, but as a ministry. Employee feels a high sense of commitment to the Lord and His calling on his/her life to be at MVCS.
Teacher Qualifications
- Evidence of knowledge of content and pedagogy through experience and training
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Teacher State licensure or ACSI certification in areas of assignment preferred or willingness to seek one or both of these
- Able to pass background, fingerprinting, and child and adult protection registry check
- Certification in child/adult CPR & first aid
- Understanding of the principles of child development, best practices and educational methods
- Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
- Communication and instructional skills
- Ability to act as mediator between students
- Balance between a creative mind and a practical judgement
- Able to prepare student for the next grade level
- Great love and patience for students
- Able to engage students and earn their trust and attention
- Able to teach various science, technology, engineering and math classes (STEM)
Teacher Responsibilities

- Understands and implements the Matthew 18 principle with students, parents, peers and administration in an appropriate manner
- Assesses students' spiritual needs to lead to them in spiritual growth
- Models a consistent relationship with Jesus Christ
Instructional Planning, Preparation and Delivery
- Develop a careful and creative program by following curriculum guidelines for the assigned grade level students and the school’s goals
- Design lessons with clear, focused, and measurable instructional objectives
- Modify plans based on student diagnostic and assessment procedures
- Establish learning expectations
- Employ a variety of educational techniques to enhance critical thinking
- Integrate technology to enhance/accelerate learning
- Able to teach content and skills
- Develop standards for critical judgment of written and oral communications transmitted by mass media
Assessment
- Guides students to develop their learning by providing instructional feedback; coaching, counseling, and disciplining students; planning, monitoring, and appraising learning results
- Maintain records to document learning accomplishments by preparing administering and scoring pre-assessments, formative, and summative assessments, eliciting student feedback and questions, evaluating application of learning to classroom project results
- Use student data to plan instruction, and provide additional or varied forms of instruction
- Maintain records to document attendance, grades and behavior
- Track student’s progress and report to parents
Classroom Environment: Create a classroom environment that:
- Develops in each student skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing that are fundamental to effective communication and literate citizenship
- Promotes positive social interaction by observing each student to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
- Motivates students to read widely for information and recreation
- Develop standards for critical judgment of written and oral communications transmitted by mass media, and other literature
- Manage student behavior through implementation of classroom rules, routines and procedures that allow a student to assume his/her own responsibility
- Create an environment of respect and rapport through reinforcement and praise
- Ensure students are always safe
- Encourage students to accept God and the gift of salvation and grow in their faith, provide opportunities to lead in prayer, and develop a Christian mind and lifestyle
- Organize physical space to be attractive, well-ordered, conducive to learning and student work displayed
- Communicate with parents regularly
- Collaborate with other educators
- Maintain confidentiality
- Comply with Federal, State and Local legal requirements
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge
- Contribute to MVCS system’s effectiveness
- Contributes to spiritual growth of the program through example, instruction, personal and professional studies, and personal devotions and worship

Pay: $30,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
