We have an immediate need for Cook I (First Cooks) to join our culinary team based in our new and modern Des Plaines Customer Service Center near Chicago O’Hare airport, one of 30 facilities in North America.
If your experience, training and culinary skills are not fully proficient for a First Cook job, we will consider you for a Second Cook position ($19.00) with the prospect of moving to a First Cook position in 90+ days, if you can demonstrate the skills and ability to perform as a First Cook.
Description of the job, responsibilities, and duties:
- Culinary degree or cooking certification preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience cooking in a high volume institutional catering environment preferred.
- Ability to understand and complete recipes.
- Excellent ability to use cutlery, small wares, and equipment.
- Understanding and ability to demonstrate various cooking techniques.
- Understanding of HACCP specifications and compliance.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to speak, read and understand English.
- Comply with all work rules and regulations.
- Must be able to use fingers/hands to handle the equipment.
- Must be able to use specified measurements and temperatures.
- Must be able to lift and push 50+ lbs.
- Must be able to stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during the shift of 8+ hours.
- Must be flexible and able to react to changing priorities.
Our Employees Must Be Able to:
· Work assigned schedule which may include nights, weekends and holidays.
· Work overtime when required.
· Wear Personal Protective Equipment as required.
· Pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
Environmental Requirements:
· May be exposed to extreme temperature changes and noise.
· This position requires to be active, walking, heavy lifting and pushing 50+ lbs.
· Regularly stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during shifts of 8+ hours.
· Exposed to hot surfaces.
