JOB SUMMARY: Reporting dto the Clinic Director, the Therapist is responsible for providing comprehensive clinical services to individuals presenting at the Article 31 clinic. The Mental Health Therapist is part of a clinical care team committed to serving clients in a Trauma Informed community clinic. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides trauma informed weekly or bi-weekly individual therapy for a diverse caseload- including individuals that are struggling with mental health, substance use, homelessness and other psychosocial issues
- Supports clients with med adherence- familiarity with psychotropic medications with ability to provide psychoeducation preferred
- Creates client centered treatment plans every 90 days
- Conducts intakes, comprehensive assessments and screening tools
- Participates in the weekly interdisciplinary team meeting and initiating coordination of care
- Administers appropriate evidenced based interventions including CBT, DBT, Seeking Safety, motivational interviewing
- Maintains accurate and up to date records in accordance with the programs policies and procedures.
- Collaborative and concurrent documentation required- session notes and contact notes
- Conduct mental health assessments and develop treatment plans
- Provide individual and group therapy sessions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care
- Other related duties based on the needs of the program.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong individual and group counseling skills.
- Clinical internships provided to similar population can be counted towards the post graduate experience- if it can be documented
- Working experience in best practices-Motivational Interviewing etc.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Must be computer literate.
EDUCATION:
• MINIMUM: Masters in Social Work or Masters in Mental Health Counseling, Counseling, Psychology, or related field
WORK EXPERIENCES:
- NY State licensure as a LMSW/LCSW/LMHC (limited permits are accepted)
- MINIMUM: One (1) year experience/training in integrated mental health and substance abuse assessment/treatment, Motivational Interviewing techniques.
- Five (5) years’ experience working with the homeless (unstably housed) and/or substance use population.
CERTIFICATION: SIFI or CASAC is a plus
