Dental Hygienist (Anchorage)
compensation: DOE - $65/hr

Looking to hire a part-time dental hygienist for approximately 4-9 days/month with more days if desired. There is a lot of flexibility with this position. You can either work 1-2 days a week or a condensed schedule of 8 business days in a row (for example, you could work W, Th, F, M, Tu, W, Th, F) and have the rest of the month off! The second option is perfect for someone who enjoys long chunks of time off for travel. We have one hygienist on this schedule and she LOVEs it.
No evenings or weekends. The position is located in Anchorage.
The position is in a smaller private practice office with low turnover. Our long-term staff speaks to our commitment to being team players and enjoying our time at work. There is a lot of laughter at this office and we would love to find someone that enjoys having fun at work. Our other 2 hygienists have been here for 16 years and 10 years. The office manager has been here for over 16 years.
We would LOVE to find a happy, calm, funny, and reliable hygienist. We take pride in giving our patients great service and quality care.
Many of our patients have become family to us and we want a hygienist that enjoys the patient-provider relationship.
We see patients of all ages. The position pays well. Pay is DOE.
You should have deep knowledge of relevant health and safety rules and a good eye for oral diseases and anomalies. If you have a steady hand and a fantastic bedside manner, we’d like to meet you. Responsibilities:
Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination
Sterilize dental instruments properly
Conduct initial mouth screenings and check oral health history
Identify conditions like gingivitis, caries, or periodontitis
Clean and help protect patients’ teeth (e.g. remove plaque or apply fluoride)
Educate patients of all ages on proper teeth care (by demonstrating, for example, good brushing techniques)
Give instructions to patients after operations or other dental procedures
Take X-rays or dental impressions
Assist dentists with selecting appropriate treatments for various diseases (including oral cancer)
Maintain documentation and charts on each patient
Monitor/restock supplies, update order lists if supplies are running low
Skills:
Proven experience as Dental Hygienist
In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (e.g. HIPAA)
Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment
Outstanding communication skills
A patient and friendly personality
Attention to detail
Stamina to meet the physical demands of the job
Diploma in Dental Hygiene
Valid license to practice in Alaska
