Job Description
General Mechanic HVAC, 2nd Shift Split, Sunday-Wednesday, 12pm-10:30pm
$40.11 Hourly Pay
Under the direct supervision of the HVAC Shop Supervisor, or other designated personnel, the General Mechanic, HVAC performs skilled work in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems, and their controls. Much, but not all of this work will be focused on planning, scheduling, performing and documenting regular Preventative Maintenance but will include reactive maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems smaller than 10 tons/15,000 CFM.
Daily tasks include but not limited to: preventative and reactive maintenance/repairs on air handler units (AHU), circulator pumps, split HVAC systems, cooling towers and fan coil units. Performs blower assembly repairs including bearings and motor replacements and pipe removal and replacement.
Utilizes a computerized maintenance work order system to perform all maintenance and provides written (electronic) records of work completed on a daily basis. Communicates with supervisors, contractors, Work Center and customers on a continuous basis through multiple means. Employees may perform other duties as assigned. This position is deemed essential.

Required
Minimum of three (3) years recent full-time experience as an HVAC or maintenance mechanic in a facilities setting or performing work in a residential or commercial setting working for a licensed contractor or maintenance organization
Experience with mechanical piping systems, bearing and shaft assemblies, pump removals and installations
High school diploma/GED graduate
EPA Universal Recovery License
Must be able to read and understand plans, blueprints, and schematics related to trades and mechanical systems
Demonstrated ability to work independently and ability to work from written or verbal instructions
Skilled in the use of equipment and tools used in the HVAC trade
Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license
Ability to assist vendors/contractors as directed by their Supervisor
Maintains appropriate parts and equipment inventory levels to facilitate quick and seamless repairs and maintenance
Demonstrates working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). Utilizes tablet and desktop computer systems to monitor, adjust and trouble systems and to track and report work progress.
Must be able to communicate orally, read, comprehend, write, reason and analyze and perform calculations
Must be able to bend, sit, squat, stand, crawl, walk, climb, push/pull, kneel, handle objects (manual dexterity), reach above shoulder level, and use fine finger movements
Must be able to lift over 50 pounds
The employee will be subject to the following Environmental Conditions on the job:
o Exposure to excessive noise
o Will be around moving machinery
o Exposure to marked changes in temperature and/or humidity
o Exposure to dust, fumes, gasses
o Will drive motorized equipment
o Will work in confined quarters with proper PPE
Preferred
Experience in a higher education environment a plus
Possessing any trades licenses or certifications in the electrical/mechanical industry (HVAC/Refrigeration, Electrical, Plumbing, Gas/Oil Boiler Technician Certificate, Sheet Metal Journeyperson, etc.) considered a plus
Building Automation System (BAS) experience a plus
