Job Title: Optometric Technician
Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. As an Optometric Technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting optometrists in providing excellent eye care services to our patients. Your responsibilities will include performing preliminary eye testing, conducting diagnostic tests, assisting with contact lens fittings, and educating patients on proper eye care procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, a passion for patient care, and a desire to contribute to a collaborative healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preliminary tests and measurements for patient eye exams, including visual acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception.
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as auto-refraction, tonometry, visual field testing, and retinal imaging.
- Assist optometrists with contact lens fittings, measurements, and trials.
- Educate patients on proper eye hygiene, contact lens care, and other relevant eye care topics.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Prepare examination rooms and equipment for optometrists.
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and handling patient inquiries.
- Sterilize and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification as an Optometric Technician is preferred.
- Proven experience as an Optometric Technician or similar role in an optometry or ophthalmology practice is advantageous.
- Knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, diagnostic procedures, and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform precise measurements and tests.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of patient care.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and other computer applications.
