Laboratory Technician II
Summary
Perform laboratory testing to determine the physical characteristics of samples designated by clients.
Responsibilities

Adhere to API Standard 19C, API Recommended Practice 19D, standard operating procedures, and other industry standards.

Independently performs testing on proppant samples such as sieve analysis, bulk density, turbidity, acid solubility, and conductivity.

Operate laboratory equipment such as balances, ovens, sieve shakers, and presses.

Clean laboratory equipment, instruments, and supplies.

Prepare and shape cores for conductivity testing.

Assists senior laboratory personnel with advanced testing.

Records all data and results on bench sheets with accuracy and responsibility.

Calibrates laboratory equipment as needed for which the technician has been adequately trained and has been verified to operate correctly in accordance with applicable standards and sound laboratory practice.

Prepares chemical solutions according to standard formulas.

Responsible for preparing client reports and ensuring such reports are accurate.

Perform maintenance on laboratory equipment for which the technician has been adequately trained to do.

Maintains a clean and organized work environment.

Ensures all safety guidelines are always followed.
Other duties may be assigned.

Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
Experience
-
Two to four years of related experience is preferred.

Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
Mechanical aptitude is preferred, but not required.

Job Assignments
Laboratory technicians must be ready to accept job assignments at any time, including scheduled days off. Overtime must be worked as required.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision capabilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Protechnics requires laboratory technicians to meet the following qualifications:

Pass the drug and alcohol test specified by ProTechnics for safety-sensitive employees.
Be able to work in the presence of odors typical of petroleum or petrochemicals without allergic reactions or nausea, when odors are within OSHA-designated permissible exposure limits (PELs).
