REPORTS TO: CHIEF APPRAISER
DEPARTMENT: TAX ASSESSOR - 416
STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for performing various office and field appraisal assignments. This includes real estate appraisals for all types of real property.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs field data collection on real property. Documents, lists, and calculates square footage, quality class and all improvement to property. Assist the appraisal staff with on-site reviews of all tax parcels that have had market value placed under appeal by property owner. Assist the appraisal staff with on-site reviews of all parcels that the owner has requested to be valued by submitting a tax return. Performs administrative and customer service duties when not in the field.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Ability to work effectively as a team member in providing excellence in customer service to the citizens of Gordon County. Knowledge of principles and practices of property appraisal. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with fellow employees, the public and county officials. Ability to work independently, define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions. Computer literate with good working knowledge of various spreadsheet and word processing software and county’s appraisal and data collection software. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written. Ability to do math calculations at a high school level. Familiar with, or willingness to become familiar with, the geographical area of Gordon County. Ability to read maps, plats etc. Ability to read and interpret rules, regulations, ordinances, instruction manuals, and other department related materials.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or equivalency.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Georgia Drivers License.
Ability to obtain Certified Appraiser I status by attending continuing education classes.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands with dexterity; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme cold or heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and risk of electrical shock. Noise levels may vary at times but are usually moderate.
