We are currently hiring a full-time Helper C Janitor for a Class A Gold Coast residential high-rise building. Janitorial staff are members of the SEIU Local 1 Union, and both job duties and benefits are all in line with the current Union agreement, which is viewable here.
The following summarizes the job responsibilities expected of the Helper C Janitor position, to comply with established policies and procedures in maintaining a first-class building at its maximum operating efficiency.
- Ensure that all common areas (such as the lobby, fitness center, etc.) are immaculately clean, having a keen eye for detail.
- Utmost professionalism when handling responsibilities and engaging with residents and vendors; acknowledging all resident and inquires in a polite manner.
- Notify the Building Engineer and Property Manager immediately of any security, fire, and safety issues.
- In case of building emergencies, the employee shall be on-call and respond to assist Building Engineer as needed; duties shall include corrective action and clean-up.
- Assist in preparing amenity rooms for parties and meetings by cleaning, rearranging furniture, hanging decoration, etc., and checking that all appliances are in working order.
- Arrange for the installation of elevator floor and wall pads for moves and deliveries. Performing inspections for pre and post freight elevator reservations.
- Perform cleaning, maintenance, and repair to all common areas of the building including but not limited to lobby, bathrooms, elevators, garage, rooftop, maintenance room areas, mail room, trash rooms, and common outside areas, etc. Daily tasks sheets should be completed and kept on-site for next shift pass-downs.
- Seasonal work such as watering outside plants/snow removal.
- Monitor trash and recycling receptacle areas for cleanliness and change compactor container as needed.
- Perform other assignments as requested by Building Engineer or Property Manager.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have fundamental knowledge of mechanicals and building engineering, with a desire to learn beyond the scope of day-to-day tasks.
- Must be available in case of emergencies; communication with team is paramount.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have fundamental knowledge of mechanicals and building engineering, with a desire to learn beyond the scope of day-to-day tasks.
- Must be able to perform housekeeping and general cleaning for the property.
- Must be willing to improve skills through Local 1 Training Programs and on-the-job training.
- Must be able to maintain positive, professional, and businesslike relationships with residents at all times.
- Must be able to cooperate and work with other staff members.
- Must be available in case of emergencies; communication with team is paramount.
- Candidate must be able to work without supervision when necessary and work in a safe manner.
SCHEDULE:
All benefits and pay rates are in compliance with the SEIU Local 1 Janitorial Agreement and include:
Pay rate between $18.51 - $20.57 per hour, plus overtime as needed
Vacation, floating holiday, and sick paid time off, plus holiday pay
