We have a unique opportunity for an experienced Lead Bartender to join our restaurant team. Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch features an authentic farm-to-table menu by chef Stephen Barber and offers restaurant dining, retail and café experiences as well as memorable private event experiences. With our own working farm and talented chefs, the Lead Bartender will have access to amazing cocktail ingredients and be able to collaborate with our culinary talent to create ingredient-focused and balanced cocktails. Lead Bartender Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Beverage Manager on cocktail recipe development
- Develop innovative and signature cocktail recipes that showcase creativity based on ingredients from the LMR farm
- Keep Beverage Manager informed of bar supply needs
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area
- Keep inventory organized to facilitate efficient inventory counts
- Assist with weekly inventory counts of product and labeling of product, batches, review expiration dates
- Assist management team with end of month inventory counts
- Arrange inventory for special events
- Participate in staff training programs to educate colleagues about LMR and other wines, cocktail preparation, and beverage service
Bartender Responsibilities
- Provide attentive and friendly service to guests, engaging in conversations, and offering recommendations based on their preferences
- Promote LMR wines, special beverages and seasonal cocktails to maximize revenue and enhance the guest experience
- Take beverage orders from serving staff and directly from patrons
- Take orders and serve food to bar guests
- Serve wine and beer
- Mix and prepare cocktails and other drinks
- Balance receipts and reconcile cash drawers against cash reports
- Verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
- Monitor drinking in excess of customers
- Stock bar with beer, wine, liquor, etc.
- Slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks
- Clean glasses, utensils and bar equipment
- Clean bar and work area
- Maintain checklists for open and closing duties
- Ensure all bar equipment is operational and functional; report any equipment issues to management
- Following company procedures, provide training for new bartenders
- Communicate with the culinary team to source unique products from the kitchen and farm
- Oversee par levels of product
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of wine storage areas
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Experience and Requirements
- 2 years of bartender experience in an upscale-casual, high volume restaurant, or catering
- Knowledge of wines, varietals and winemaking process
- Ability to offer product for purchase and maximize sale with other options for purchase
- Ability to learn and execute point of sale computer software procedures
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and deal with unexpected situations
- Must be able to lift, balance, and carry plates of food
- Must be able to lift cases of wine on a daily basis
- Must be able to use both hands to handle, grasp, move and control objects, tools and equipment operations
- Must be able to bend or twist body
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
Compensation and Benefits:
- This is a full-time, hourly position
- The company reasonably expects to pay in the range of $19 - $24 an hour plus tips. This is depending on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift availability, and business or organizational needs. This wage range may be modified in the future.
