Honest Assembly is looking to bring on an intermediate level technician to work under sensor technicians. Day to day duties will include entry level race car preparation and performance street vehicle maintenance. The goal of this position is to develop senior level race and performance technicians.
Honest Assembly Garage is a boutique automotive shop specializing in modifying, tuning and maintaining high-end performance Porsches, BMW's, and other models frequently used on track in Global Time Attack, SCCA, NASA, and BMW/Porsche club events. Our customers are referral only and we do not accept walk-ins.
We are looking for candidates with either a significant amount of personal experience working on high performance cars or professional maintenance experience, Porsche and BMW performance. Race experience is a plus, but not required. Candidates must be willing to work some weekends (while taking weekdays off) and travel to out of town races as needed.
Ideal candidates have experience as a mechanic, automotive mechanic, service technician, automotive service technician, Porsche certified technician, or BMW certified mechanic.
The primary attributes we desire are for candidates to be very detail oriented, have a strong work ethic, display open mindedness, a positive very attitude, and a willingness to learn. We will not tolerate any angry tempers or judgmental attitudes.
This is an open-shop environment, you will frequently interface directly with customers. Our customer car relationships are as caretakers not just technicians. Candidates must be willing and able to work in a high-pressure environment, handling high-value vehicles and components. All of our customers come from referrals or word of mouth and expect the best treatment of their cars.

Common tasks include:
- Chassis setup
- High-end coilover conversions
- Aftermarket brake component installation
- Aftermarket suspension component installation
- Complete suspension overhaul
- High-performance exhaust installation
- General maintenance on customer vehicles
- Performance-oriented alignment and corner balancing
- Customer support at the racetrack
- Swap existing engines, drivetrain and suspension with aftermarket ones
Expectation of Quality:
We maintain an extremely high quality of work, candidates must be able to conform to these standards and show immaculate attention to detail and care when working on customer vehicles. We treat every vehicle that comes in the door as if it were our own, and take care of them the way we would wish our vehicles to be taken care of. The focus is on quality, not speed or volume of jobs. However, if a job is going to take more than the book time or exceed the expectation given to the customer, you must be able to communicate this clearly to the customer ahead of time in a way that is easy to understand.
Operations:
In general, your daily tasks will include performing parts installation or maintenance on customer vehicles, and consultation with customers about their needs. You are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of shop work areas. You will be in direct contact with customers and parts suppliers to determine necessary parts and order them for vehicles that are scheduled for servicing.
We provide in-person support to our customers at the racetrack. This includes changing and torquing wheels, checking tire pressures, making suspension adjustments, bleeding brakes and changing brake pads. This helps to build relationships with customers and guarantee future work. Generally, you will be at an event once a month during the April-November track season. When the correct preparation is done, these are usually very low key and low stress events based around customer satisfaction.
You may be required to perform work on the long-term restoration projects in the shop. This includes basic fabrication such as drilling or cutting metal, building and dressing engines, disassembly or reassembly of vehicles, and final fitment of body panels and interior components. This is usually an on-the-fly situation due to long delays in restoration parts procurement, so the ability to quickly switch between and handle multiple tasks at once is a must.
Requirements:
Honest Assembly Garage is looking for candidates with the following qualities:
- 2 Years of professional automotive experience
- Relevant personal or professional mechanical experience
- Dedicated high-performance vehicle enthusiast
- Self-starter, can begin and manage tasks without external input
- Experience performing general maintenance and aftermarket part installation on high performance vehicles
- General understanding of race and track-oriented parts such as brakes, suspension components, exhaust, drivetrain components
- Ability to quickly learn new procedures by reading and interpolating documentation, every day you may be working on a different type of vehicle and performing a different task
- Highly detail oriented, maintains a clean and organized workspace
- Ability to communicate directly and confidently with customers and parts suppliers
- Basic fabrication skills, drilling and cutting metal etc.
- Experience in electrical systems and full vehicle wiring
- Research parts as needed for your assigned car
- Ability to document all work and communicate directly with the customer
- Entry level set of appropriate tools
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
Nice-To-Haves (Not Required):
- Restoration experience such as body work, frame repair and modification, upholstery
- Track or autocross vehicle set-up and driving experience
- Wheel/tire fitment experience
- Experience MIG or TIG welding
