What part will you play?
- GAF Energy is seeking a Regional Senior Safety Specialist to lead in the development and support of EHS programs and practices through observation, teaching, training, and coaching in GAF Energy’s residential solar roofing markets.
- The Senior Safety Specialist is a regional position that will work with internal teams, contractors, and business partners in GAF Energy markets within the Southern/Central U.S. to establish and implement safety standards and best practices related to our solar products and systems.
- The ideal candidate must have a passion for problem-solving, reducing safety risks, and empowering others to be safer every day.
- Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate a positive history of traveling and working remotely and independently in a safety, quality, or management-related capacity.
- This role will report to the Director of Safety & Quality or the Senior Regional EHSQ Leader.
What will you do?
- Support the development and training of EHS topics.
- Create initiatives that build and improve upon GAF Energy’s culture of safety.
- Coordinate and conduct EHS inspections, incident investigations, and analysis of leading and lagging EHS performance indicators. Document and report results.
- Champion the selection and procurement of personal protective equipment and work with managers and suppliers to ensure adequate inventory is in place per business needs.
- Directly support managers in the delivery of required EHS training, including new-hire and recurring training, and records management.
- Report the results of safety inspections, including recommendations for correcting issues observed, to management, leadership teams, and partners.
- Recommend proactive improvement actions such as product and tool design to support safety improvement based on feedback from employees and contractors.
- Lead and participate in department initiatives that improve safety culture.
- Control safety and health risks related to your field work including working at heights, working with electricity, driving, and other risks in the solar and electrical industries.
What do we require from you?
- 3+ years experience in residential roofing and/or solar construction.
- Experience in creating and/or implementing EHS programs.
- Degree or certificate in Safety Management, Construction or related field, Solar or Electrical Technologies is a plus.
- EHS-related certification, such as CSP, GSP, or ASP is preferred.
- Training experience desired, and/or experience with instructional design or computer-based courseware development tools.
- Experience collecting and analyzing data to draft and present reports.
- Experience communicating with front-line technicians, engineers, sales and marketing teams, and external customers.
- Proficiency in a Microsoft Office or Google Workspace environment.
- Experience working remotely, independently, and with little to no direct supervision.
- NABCEP and/or other industry certification desired.
- Journey-person, Master Electrician, or another industry-related licensure is helpful, but not required.
- Bilingual with reading/wiring competency in the Spanish language preferred, but not required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license, preferably with a demonstrated record of safe driving.
Physical Demands And Working Conditions
- Individuals in this position may be required to obtain additional training and certifications to comply with GAF Energy policies such as NFPA 70E, First Aid/CPR, and others.
- Travel throughout the US may be required. Up to 50% average travel with frequent overnight stays possible.
- When in the field, individuals will be expected to be capable of performing tasks similar to those of an electrician or field technician.
- This is a remote-based position, and candidates are expected to work from home when not working in the field. This includes frequent online meetings, on-camera presentations, and phone calls.
Individuals hired for this position can reasonably expect a base salary within the range of $110,000 - $130,000. The company provides comprehensive health and retirement savings plan benefits that support an employee's total well-being. This position also comes with a take-home company vehicle.
