Job Summary
The Buildings and Grounds Maintenance worker maintains plant and grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of the facilities. To accomplish these tasks the Buildings and Grounds Maintenance worker must work closely with the staff. The position will be responsible for the following:

Assist in maintaining Facility buildings and grounds in top condition by performing these essential duties, among others as assigned:

janitorial work,
- general cleanup,
-
Cuts lawn using hand, power or riding mower;
- trims and edges around walks, flower beds, walls, etc.
- Plants grass, flowers, trees and shrubs;
- prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth.
- weeding,
- painting, etc..

Assist in promoting the safety, health and physical condition of all buildings and grounds.
- Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects.
- Perform preventive maintenance, repair, and installation in connection with:
- electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- exterior and interior of buildings.
- facility grounds.
- Move equipment and materials within and between facilities.

Work additional hours when emergencies arise in order to prevent disruption of the facilities.
- Observe work policies at all times.
- Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques.
- Adhere to all U.S. Water/USWUG health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
- Other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

Reed bed maintenance, (including the planting of reed plants),

Lime pond maintenance,

EQ basin/Stormwater pond maintenance,

Road/drive maintenance,

Fence maintenance,

Snow removal,

All other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
- Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
- Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
- Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching.
- Requires climbing and balancing.
- Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.
- Must work in noisy and crowded environments.
- Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors.
- Must be able to drive a mechanical vehicle.
- Must be able to work in high places.
Qualifications:
-
Experience in building and grounds operations.
- Familiarity with computers and software relating to maintenance and inventory.
- Ability to read chemical labels.
- Ability to read material safety data sheets (MSDS).
- Ability to initiate and complete work orders through U.S. Water/USWUG's computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Have a valid Iowa driver's license, be able to drive, and qualify under the Company's insurance carrier when driving a Company vehicle.
