This Full-time Stationary Engineer Apprenticeship Opportunity will work 80 hours bi-weekly.

THIS STATIONARY ENGINEER APPRENTICE OPPORTUNITY WILL PROVIDE A COMPLETE FOUR YEAR PROGRAM THAT ALLOWS THE APPRENTICE TO WORK ALONG SIDE EXPERIENCED TEAM MEMBERS AND OBTAIN COLLEGE BASED INSTRUCTION THAT RENDERS ELIGIBILITY TO EARN THE 2ND GRADE STATIONARY ENGINEER LICENSE
This Stationary Engineer Apprentice will commit to a 4-year program and will receive a combination of on-the-job training and course instruction at Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC). On the job training will include working alongside a Class I or Class II journeyworker to gain systematic instruction and experience in all aspects of central plant and mechanical area operation. The Stationary Engineer Apprentice will be enrolled at CCBC in related courses per program requirements as determined by CCBC (cost of related instruction courses paid by Frederick Health). Upon completion of this four-year apprenticeship program, the Stationary Engineer Apprentice will be eligible to obtain a Class II Stationary Engineer License.
Program Summary:
- Will receive orientation in building automation systems and alarm response, all aspects of communication, emergency response equipment and systems to manage emergencies and critical failure responsibilities to plant and facility infrastructure.
- Will receive orientation in Building Automation Systems, Power and Emergency Power sequence, Heating and Cooling sequence, Medical Gas System and Plumbing System.
- Will perform maintenance support, repairs support in hospital and off-site locations and demonstrate independence under observation of other engineers.
- Will gain multi-shift and multi-site coverage experience.
Work Requirement:
- Full-time – 40 hour per week.
- Paired with Class I or Class II journey worker at 1:1 ratio.
- Work hours will mirror the same hours as the journeyworker to maintain the 1:1 ratio.
Related Instruction at CCBC:
- Attend necessary instruction courses as outlined by CCBC during non-working hours.
- Blend of synchronous and asynchronous sessions.
- Hybrid of online learning and in person instruction.
- Must maintain 3.0 GPA.
Program Qualifications:
- 18 years or older.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Abilities needed to perform all job tasks and duties with or without accommodation.
- Must have reliable transportation to get to work facilities and related instruction at CCBC (Community College of Baltimore County), Catonsville Campus.
- Must pass a drug test and background check.
