Position Summary: This position will support social emotional health by providing school-based social work services, support in the implementation of SEL learning for students, and connections between school, family, and community agencies. This position will service both special education and general education students and partner with our district guidance staff.
Required Qualifications
- Masters in Social Work
- Certified School Social Worker - preferred
- Valid Certificate from the State of Michigan
Preferred Personal and Professional Competencies
- 3 to 5 years experience working in an educational setting
- Able to relate to children from ages 5 to young adult
- Knowledge of Restorative Practices
- Well-versed in best practices for Social-Emotional Learning
- Familiarity with Illuminate (ISE) program for Special Education
Major Job Responsibilities
- Mental Health (non-academic) Counseling services for students and parents/caregivers in understanding student diagnosis, behavioral health needs and support services offered
- Develops plans of care in partnership with students, schools staff, and families to establish social-emotional behavioral health goals and measure progress
- Will complete regular case notes in Illuminate.
- Will complete medicaid billing for eligible students in illuminate
- Support the facilitation of the Child Study process including interpretation of data and the development of treatment plans, coordinating, with parents, staff and administration.
- Conducts professional learning presentations for school staff and parents.
- Assess the effectiveness of the delivered services toward achieving the student driven goals and objectives via treatment service plan review.
- Assess needs for additional counseling services; making referrals when appropriate the Community Mental Health System.
- Crisis intervention.
- Counseling services provided to assist students
- Supports social-emotional learning, assessment, and curriculum implementation. Other duties as assigned.
- Provide services in one-on-one and small groups
- Write and monitor IEP goals and participate in and lead special education and related meetings
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,750.00 - $83,000.00 per year
