ABOUT JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF ALASKA
We are the passionate people behind a movement that seeks to educate and inspire young people to succeed in a global economy. JAAK supports JA operations throughout Alaska in 55 communities statewide. JAAK annually reaches over 15,000 students each year. Through age-appropriate curricula, JA programs begin at the elementary school level, teaching children how they can impact the world around them as individuals, workers and consumers. JA programs continue through the middle grades and high school, focusing on the key content areas of entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position will oversee and manage our Work and Career Readiness Pathway (WCRP) and Financial Literacy Pathway (FLP) and support the growth and expansion of Middle School, High School and 18-25 student participation in key JAAK initiatives. The position will support programs with nonprofit partners, business and education communities around the state.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement and support middle and high school WCRP and FLP JA programs in school statewide
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to achieve annual goals.
- Facilitate trainings for middle and high school educators
- Support the customer service plan to ensure quality of all programs through effective and personal communications via phone calls, classroom monitoring and evaluation to improve retention of volunteers.
- Monitor curriculum distribution to schools
- Adhere to program reporting requirements to ensure proper verification of all programs.
- Manage records and information relating to school and volunteer activity
- Lead recruitment efforts to fill placement and training of volunteers when necessary
- Develop and deliver presentations to businesses, schools and individuals to gain engagement.
- Manage a statewide network of educators
- Attend trainings offered by JA USA to continue striving for professional improvement
- Attend JA events and fundraisers when necessary
- Provide overall support for the Anchorage School District Career Academy initiative
EXPERIENCE/QUALITIES REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, and at least five years business, sales, education or non-profit experience. Experience as an educator or working with schools in Alaska is preferred but not required.
- Ability to perform, organize, and while dealing with interruptions from teachers, volunteers, or co-workers.
- Strong communication and persuasion skills to recruit volunteers and provide exceptional customer service communications (e-mail, phone, school visits, etc.) to educators, community leaders, and volunteers
- Demonstrated experience implementing educational programs
- You are comfortable networking, working with educators, public speaking and making presentations.
- Proficient computer skills, preferably in a Google Classroom, Canvas, and Microsoft environment.
- Ability to travel
PAY/COMPENSATION: Salary, $55,000 - $65,000 DOE, competitive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision, paid time off, vacation, bonus opportunities and flexible work arrangements.
