LOCATIONS:
Clackamas (1 position. Expected to last from September 16, 2024 through December 13, 2024.
Corvallis (1 position). Expected to last from September 3, 2024 through December 6, 2024.
Springfield (1 position. Expected to last from September 3, 2024 through December 6, 2024.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
As a Wildlife Check-In / District Assistant (Biological Science Assistant) you will provide technical support for the district’s wildlife check-in program by verifying license, tag, and permit information, collecting biological samples, and summarizing and tabulating data necessary for monitoring compliance of take.
Accurate and timely data gathering and summarization are critical to providing hunting opportunity and to support wildlife programs. The secondary purpose of this position is to support other District functions (e.g., population monitoring through spotlighting or trail cameras, addressing human-wildlife conflict, entering and summarizing survey data) utilizing other funds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position requires a flexible work schedule that varies in the number of hours worked on a daily basis, but not necessarily each day, or a work schedule in which the starting and stopping times vary on a daily basis, but not necessarily each day, and does not exceed forty (40) hours in a workweek. Work exceeding 40 hours per week requires prior approval by the supervisor.
Requires willingness to work outdoors in all kinds of weather and for prolonged periods of time, to walk, climb, bend, stoop and safely lift up to 50 pounds (or more with assistance if/when necessary), to occasionally work at remote stations or job sites.
REQUESTED SKILLS:
Minimum qualifications are not established for this position; however, we are seeking applicants with the following experience or skills. Preference for interviews may be given to candidates with these skills and background:
Experience working in the office and field settings.
Experience recording field data in all types of weather conditions.
Experience conducting wildlife surveys.
Computer skills.
Customer service skills.
Note: Requires a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record.
REQUIREMENTS
Criminal Records/DMV Check: Applicants are subject to both a criminal history and motor vehicles check. Driving is required for all positions. Out-of-state finalists will be required to present a current certified driving record for review to be considered for the position. Be prepared to obtain as soon as possible. You are expected to provide the out-of-state certified driving record before an offer can be made unless extenuating circumstances exist. Adverse background and/or driving information may disqualify you from further consideration.
Within three days of hire, applicants will be required to complete the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s I-9 form confirming authorization to work in the United States. ODFW participates in E-Verify. ODFW is unable to support VISA sponsorships.
