Job Details
The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment and systems within our optical lab. This includes routine and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting issues, keeping accurate records, forecasting future needs, and ensuring that all machinery operates efficiently and safely to ensure machine reliability and minimize unexpected downtime. This employee should have a general working knowledge of workflow throughout the lab. This position requires various skills and versatility for a wide range of tasks including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, parts & inventory control, and some logistics. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently oversee and manage daily start up and close procedures of all production equipment and facilities to start production as soon as possible.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on optical lab equipment, including lens cutting machines, coating machines, polishers, generators, and inspection devices.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues, implementing effective and timely solutions.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure equipment is operating efficiently and identify potential issues before they lead to equipment failure.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
- Collaborate with the production team to schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption to lab operations.
- Maintain Tech Support Portal for all Schneider machines.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations during all maintenance procedures.
- Assist in the installation, setup, and calibration of new lab equipment.
- Provide training and support to lab staff on proper equipment use and basic maintenance.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve maintenance processes and equipment performance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred.
- Proven experience as a maintenance technician, preferably in an optical lab or similar manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems and components.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a team.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects and working in various positions.
