Responsible for working as the primary point of contact for patients and parents
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Answering phone calls, scheduling/rescheduling patients, greeting and checking-in patients, and checking-out patients
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Patient Management
Greet patients when they sign in and monitor arrival time
Show care and concern, and help parents/patients feel comfortable
Obtain health histories according to office protocol
Provide parents/patients with office documentation (i.e., registration and treatment consents) and ensure that they are completed as necessary
Ensure patients are always attended
Perform expanded functions and other tasks as assigned by the Office Manager
Ensure patients’ questions are answered thoroughly when they arrive and before they leave
Monitor patient flow
Records Management
Securely store and handle patient records in compliance with state and federal requirements, including the HIPAA privacy and security regulations
Accurately scan and upload patient information
Office Participation
Help in other areas of the office when necessary (i.e., unpacking supplies)
Be an active participant in team meetings
Promote team concept by interacting with others in the office
PERSONNEL REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Graduate of accredited dental hygienist program or dental hygienist experience preferred
Coursework in dental instruments and procedures
Compliance with state dental practice requirements (i.e., X-ray requirements, OSHA training)
Legible handwriting for notations in patient chart
Computer skills (i.e., Eaglesoft)
Commitment to CE for career development
Interpersonal
Good interpersonal skills to maintain effective rapport with patients, dentists, other staff members and community
Effective verbal skills to communicate with parents, patients, and staff
Job Types: Part-time, Temp-to-hire
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 per week
