Project Specialist Name: Teaching Artist
Program Supported: Out-of-School Time Programs
Program Summary: The Campagna Center’s Out-of-School Time Programs provides theatre arts and enrichment programming for more than 1300 students Pre-K through 12th grade. Our programs are located at public schools, recreation centers, and other space partner sites throughout Alexandria City.
Project Specialist Focus:
- ·The Teaching Artist (TA) will have a content focus in either dance, theatre, technical theatre, or music/voice. The TA will work collaboratively with other team members to develop and implement arts education programming and theatrical productions. The TA will lead classes or provide educational performances in their content area, and work as a member of the creative team on productions.
Reports to: Creative Arts Coordinator
Primary Duties: Works with Senior Director/Creative Arts Coordinator to design performances and curriculum in the following disciplines:
- Technical Theatre - Prepares and implements classes in stage crafts, costume construction, introductory design elements, and visual arts.
- Dance Focus - Prepares and implements classes in various dance styles (Ballet, Jazz, Musical Theatre)
- Theatre Focus - Prepares and implements daily classes in acting, ensemble games, and voice and body movement. May serve as Associate Director for Campagna Center productions.
- Music Focus – Prepares and implements daily classes in voice, site reading, and instrumental music. May serve as Music Director for Campagna Center productions.
- Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) – Prepares and implements touring theatre/music productions at afterschool sites and in the Campagna Center Blackbox theatrical spaces. TYA Teaching Artist will also lead group discussions with students on exploring the world of the play, as well as guide focused discussion with middle and high school students on exploring college and career pathways in the arts. TYA roles include:
o Associate Stage Director
o Actor
o Stage Manager
Location and Time:
- TA positions will start in August and end in June
- Monday-Friday, Schedule TBD (4 to 10 hours per week)
- Campagna Center site locations and off-site rehearsals sites
- Must attend occasional trainings and zoom meetings
- Maintains all necessary certifications, including but not limited to, CPR, First Aid

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent form of training and education in relevant field required
Compensation: $30 per hour
Job Type: Temporary
Pay: $30.00 per hour
