Paonia Care and Rehab is looking for a FT Maintenance Director! -
Schedule:
Mon-Fri:
- Occasional weekends with the responsibility of on call for maintenance related emergencies!
Job Requirements:
- Experience in maintenance
- Exposure to Life Safety/OSHA regulations is a must!
- Attends staff and management meetings as required
- Participate in facility quality initiatives.
- Attend various facility committee meetings (i.e., quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI), safety, risk management, etc.) as directed.
- SB Collaborate with the Infection Preventionist and the Infection Prevention and Control Committee regarding facility sanitation.
- Ensure the safe and proper functioning of the environment and equipment that are necessary to care for the resident population in the facility.
- Evaluate and document facility maintenance and equipment needs.
- Provide facility access to state/federal inspectors and contractors as directed.
- Evaluate work areas, examine tools and equipment and provide safety training to team members to prevent, detect and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and regulations
- Inspect, test and measure completed work to verify compliance with state/federal requirements and/or facility standards.
- Provide daily supervision to the maintenance department
- Ensure the efficient and effective operational maintenance of the buildings and grounds through planning, scheduling and supervision of tasks.
- Provide oversight of staff and contractors to ensure projects are completed correctly and within budget.
- Develop, implement and evaluate maintenance policies and procedures annually and document the review.
- Determine schedules, sequences and assignments for work activities based on work priority, quantity of equipment, skills and competencies of team members.
- Prepare purchase orders for equipment required for safe operation and compliance of requirements.
- Investigate accidents or injuries and prepare reports of findings; review findings with the Administrator and the Risk Manager.
- Assist in the development of a facility-based and community-based hazards vulnerability assessment as part of emergency preparedness planning.
- Participate in the annual facility assessment to ensure the available resources meet the needs of the resident population.
- Utilize an all-hazards approach to evaluate the facility’s ability to maintain continuity of operations and the ability to secure required supplies and resources during an emergency or natural disaster.
- Supervise staff for adherence with all approved safety protocols, facility policies and procedures to ensure compliance with existing safety regulations (i.e., Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)).
- Ensure facility meets the current Life Safety Code standards.
- Collaborate with the Risk Manager to identify potential loss scenarios.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language. (Bilingual is a bonus!)
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
- Must be knowledgeable of maintenance practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations and guidelines governing maintenance functions in nursing care facilities.
- Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
- Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the maintenance department.
- Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of maintenance areas.
- Must perform regular inspections of resident rooms/units for order, safety and proper performance of equipment.
- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.
