ESTIMATOR – Earthwork
Reports to: Chief Estimator
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary
Assists with daily functions for estimating and project management
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Download and catalog bidding documents
· Call to request CAD information from General Contractor/Engineer/Architects
· Review sites for upcoming bids and attend pre-bid meetings
· Review and interpret specifications, plans, and geotechnical/soils reports
· Quantity take-offs for earthwork/utility/civil proposals utilizing Agtek software
· Obtain competitive proposals for goods and services to complete estimate
· Generate appropriate reports and cut/fill maps for estimating purposes
· Use estimating software to input and complete the estimate. Assists in final bid preparation
· Assist project manager in preparing field documents for production pre-planning
· Attend weekly workload and estimate progress meetings. Attend customer and industry marketing functions
· Lead estimate reviews with operations and management
· Prepare Preliminary Schedules using Mircrosoft Project
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience
Associates (A.A./A.S.) or Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from two-year or four-year college or university with a civil technician, construction management or engineering concentration or relevant field experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees of organization, vendors/suppliers. Spanish a plus.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge/ability to create spreadsheets, word documents, navigate the internet, utilize estimating software.
Software Programs: Agtek, B2W, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Viewpoint
Other Skills and Abilities
Must be able to read and understand construction plans, geotechnical reports, and specifications. Be adaptive and able to apply concepts to real world situations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 50.00 per week
