As a Business Development Specialist, you will play a crucial role in driving the growth and success of the business by developing and executing innovative sales strategies to generate advertising revenue. Your efforts will directly fund the impactful journalism that keeps the community informed and engaged.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement dynamic sales strategies to achieve annual sales goal
- Conduct market research to uncover potential advertisers and build a robust sales pipeline
- Leverage your networking skills, cold-calling expertise, email marketing prowess, and existing relationships to generate leads
- Sell various advertising products (display ads, sponsored content, event sponsorships, and digital marketing packages)
- Customize advertising packages to meet clients' unique needs and budgets
- Conduct engaging meetings and presentations with potential advertisers
- Close deals with a strategic mix of short-term and long-term contracts
- Negotiate terms and pricing that benefit both the advertiser and the company
- Maintain a CRM to track interactions, follow-ups, and sales progress
- Track and report on monthly and quarterly sales against targets (successes and areas for growth)
- Monitor and analyze the contribution of different revenue streams (display ads, sponsored content, etc.).
- Measure KPIs, including leads generated, meetings held, proposals sent, and deals closed
- Focus on retaining existing advertisers by providing exceptional customer service and demonstrating a clear return on investment
- Develop creative strategies for upselling and cross-selling to current clients, maximizing their advertising potential
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of experience in sales, preferably in advertising or media
- Strong understanding of digital marketing and advertising products highly preferred
- Excellent presentation, communication, and negotiation skills
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients
- Self-motivated with a track record of achieving sales targets
- Proficient in using CRM software
