Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Scrub Technician/SPD Tech in our small, one-room facial plastic surgery practice. This role involves crucial responsibilities in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical procedures by managing instrument sterilization, room turnover, and inventory control.
Scrub Technician Duties:
- Prepare surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for procedures.
- Assist the surgeon and surgical team during procedures by passing instruments and supplies.
- Maintain sterile technique throughout the surgical process.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and team to ensure efficient workflow.
Cleaning and Sterilizing of Instruments:
- Properly clean, decontaminate, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
- Operate sterilization equipment and maintain records of sterilization cycles.
- Inspect instruments for damage or defects and report any issues for repair or replacement.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare the surgical suite before procedures, ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are available and properly arranged.
- Clean and disinfect the surgical room between procedures, following established protocols for infection control.
- Restock supplies and ensure the room is ready for the next procedure.
Monitoring Supplies and Inventory Management:
- Maintain inventory levels of surgical supplies and equipment, including monitoring expiration dates.
- Assist with ordering and receiving supplies as needed.
- Organize and store supplies in designated areas, ensuring easy accessibility and proper rotation.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist required, Sterile Processing Technician preferred.
- Previous experience in a surgical setting, preferably in facial plastic surgery or a similar specialty.
- Current BLS
- Knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile techniques.
- Familiarity with sterilization processes and infection control standards.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $29.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
