Job Title: Bar and Event Manager
Job Summary:
The Bar and Event Manager is responsible for the management of all aspects and functions of the bar service in a manner consistent with the Club’s Bylaws and policies. In addition, this position is also responsible for scheduling the banquet facilities of the Club for member and outside events that include coordinating with the caterer and staff, managing payment for use of the Club facilities and keeping the event calendar current. Actively promotes and markets the Club for outside events in coordination with the Catering Concessionaire. The Manager is also responsible for staffing for member bar services as well as outside event bar services. This position also requires the manager to substitute for the office manager when necessary for vacations and absences. Cross training will be provided.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Hires, trains, and manages the bar staff to include scheduling of bartenders for normal bar operation as well as member and outside events, adjusting for business demands as they occur. May include filling in for bartenders to back up or relieve when short staffed or very busy.
- Ensures that bar staff report to work as scheduled and adhere to the dress code. Documents any late or absent employees accordingly.
- Knowledge of and strict adherence to state liquor laws as they apply to the County Club, including RAMP certification requirements.
- Knowledge of and strictly follows state small games of chance requirements as they apply to the Club. May include actively marketing to increase revenues of the Club.
- Orders and maintains adequate bar supplies and liquor for the Clubhouse, Pool and Pro Shop as required. Maintains current inventory records and bar sales records.
- Trains bartenders to ensure they are fully aware of and following all applicable laws, regulations and safety practices as relates to the job.
- Focuses on customer service for both members and guests to include conflict resolution and escalation to the House Committee as appropriate.
- Meets with the House Committee on a regular basis to review operations.
- Attends monthly staff meetings with the Board of Directors and presents reports as required.
- Ensures that the bar area is kept clean and meets all health and safety requirements at all times.
- Is present at all large functions to ensure that members and guests are receiving a high level of service and attention.
- Acts as the prime interface with the Catering Concessionaire ensuring member and guest satisfaction, resolving issues and if appropriate, escalating to the House Committee when necessary.
- Inspects the premises following outside events to ensure no damage to the property. If damage occurs, pursues reimbursement per the room rental contract.
- Develops promotions and activities with House Committee concurrence that will increase member participation and enhance members’ experiences at the Club.
- Opens and closes the Club facilities ensuring that the Club is secure, all lights are turned off, and doors securely locked.
- Maintains a professional, courteous and friendly demeanor to members and guests.
- Provides consistent quality of service by being prepared for all events, small and large parties and day to day beverage service to members.
Minimum Experience and Other Skills:
- Prior experience in the food and beverage industry required, preferably in a club/golf/hospitality service industry.
- Experience in resolving customer issues/complaints as well as providing overall excellent
customer service required.
- Solid time management, organization and prioritization skills.
- Proven ability to effectively build and foster a team environment.
- Proficiency in working with computer applications and POS systems.
- Ability to work with all personality types even in adverse situations.
Compensation:
To be negotiated, based on experience levels.
