This is a contract role (July 2024 - January 2025 NTE 6 months) working remotely with occasional need to go to office.
Overview
The purpose of the LFLS grant is to increase the procurement of fresh Florida products for school meals, and thus ensure the supply chain from farmers to schools. The outcome will be crop plans with identified farmers, procurement documents, and established connections between school districts and local small farmers to create the local delivery systems, planned menu cycles, and crop planning for future procurement opportunities.
The Grant Manager is responsible for planning and managing the activities required to meet the Local Food for Local Schools (LFLS) grant:
1. Identify school nutrition programs access to locally grown products which meet the grant guidelines,
2. Demonstrate the economic viability of the school meals program for Florida farmers,
3. Identify socially disadvantaged and small business farmers, and
4. Increase access to fresh produce in Florida's rural schools now, and in the future.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Create detailed plan of action and tracking documents to assure all tasks are completed in a timely manner.
· Assures all grant funds are used in accordance with the State Agreement with integrity, accountability and audit ability.
· Coordinate a LFLS Committee for FSNA, including but not limited to Resource Partners: Florida Impact and Locally Grown and FSNA; document and communicate responsibilities and assure completion of all tasks.
· Develop agreements with partner agencies.
· Review work performed by partner agencies and approve.
· Act as liaison to 13 participating school districts, communicating with them and managing their participation.
· Develop job description for Program Assistant, hire and supervise their activities.
· Liaison to Florida Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS).
· Submit monthly reports to FDACS and FSNA.
Review all invoices from partners and districts and approve for payment.
· Supervise development of program webpages.
· Plan FSNA Summer Culinary Trainings.
· Develop and supervise procurement of agricultural products.
· Develop transportation strategies for product delivery, to include development of a webpage with information for districts to use to source transportation and delivery.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and teams effectively.
- Understanding of NSLP (National School Lunch Program) and procurement
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment and remain flexible.
- Excellent initiative and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to the needs of the Project Team, FDACS & participating districts.
- Excellent computer skills. Experience with Excel for tracking progress on goals and activities.
- Detail-oriented, with strong strategic planning and organizational skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, dietetics/nutrition, business administration, marketing, or related field.
Will consider any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education, and experience to meet minimum qualifications.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as professional reports, publications, laws and regulations, procedure manuals, project proposals, and presentations.
Ability to prepare and deliver effective reports, business correspondence, and presentations.
Ability to effectively and concisely present information, speak before different groups, and respond to questions from the general public, funding partners, other donors/stakeholders, and coworkers.
