Project Manager
The Project Manager is part of a cross-disciplined project team, responsible for the schedule, budget, and customer management required for successful and on-time completion of parcel system upgrade and integration projects. They work closely with their project management and engineering peers, electrical installation teams, various support roles, and our customers. They may serve as a mentor to their peers yet are not expected to have any direct reports.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated projects to ensure that goals and objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time and budget constraints.
- Responsible for ensuring the quality of goods and services to both internal and external customers.
- Understands and follows Kasa Engineering Process Manual procedures.
- PROJECT INITIALIZATION
- Develops and maintains a working knowledge of customer’s project execution expectations and specifications.
- Reads a Scope of Work for a project and understands conceptually what is required. Must be willing and able to ask logical questions of the pertinent parties to get clarification when a full understanding isn’t initially had.
- Reviews estimates.
- Attends pre-bid meetings as necessary.
- Initializes project in internal ERP.
- Initializes communications with customer following internal project kickoff.
- Drafts Schedule of Values, Requests for Information, and Open Items List; works with Engineering team to populate RFIs and Open Items as applicable.
- Identifies and documents risks and quality control measures; works with the engineering team to populate them as applicable.
- Develops an internal project schedule and resource requirements that supports the overall project scope and external schedule.
- Coordinates establishment of payment and performance bonds, as required.
- PROJECT FACILITATION
- Monitors and maintains customer satisfaction.
- Initiates the procurement of all project materials. Tracks procurement status in accordance with project schedule. Escalates problematic lead times as applicable.
- Initiate the panel build process. Tracks panel build status in accordance with the project schedule.
- Coordinates shipments to job sites.
- Manages the internal project schedule and budget throughout the lifecycle of the project, including keeping allocated parties and management up to speed on the status of both.
- Prepares monthly budget forecasting per project.
- Manages subcontractor invoicing milestones, subcontractor progress and staffing levels, and subcontractor performance.
- Ensures subcontractor is enabled through receipt of project scope and schedule documents in accordance with project needs.
- Attends customer meetings/conference calls.
- Hosts internal project meetings as needed.
- Investigates and communicates potential sales opportunities.
- Transmits project files (start-up and as-built deliverables and programs, etc.) to customers and vendors.
- Responsible for ensuring the quality of goods and services to both internal and external customers.
- PROJECT CLOSE-OUT
- Ensures all required project deliverables are finalized and submitted per project scope and schedule.
- Collects Full Lien Waiver from all subcontractors.
- Assists AR in submitting and receiving the final invoice.
- Assists in the submission of Full Lien Waiver to customer following final payment.
- Hosts Post-Mortem meetings with present report on project performance followed by the collection of lessons learned from associated parties.
- Provides feedback to the Estimating and Sales team on costs to execute relative to the estimate, including any notable inclusions, exclusions, and/or project risks.
Other Duties

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Attends all required contractor or customer meetings to represent Kasa and reports out project status, especially any issues or concerns.
- Directs engineers on project(s) schedule, budget, and associated requirements.
- Make sure the team turns in all required paperwork and documentation.
Training Required
- PCM Training recommended.
- KCU training requirements TBD
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year college or technical school; or seven years of applicable experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Project.
- If remote, experience working effectively in a remote environment including positive references confirming reliability and efficacy.
- Preferred experience includes:
- Prior experience managing material handling projects for UPS, Amazon, or FedEx.
- Prior experience juggling multiple tasks and changing priorities.

Work Environment
This position operates in an office (home or remote) and job site setting. It routinely requires the use of standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copiers, fax machines etc. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm but are project work dependent. Occasional evenings and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel is required. Start-ups or job site setting hours will vary based on project and location. Field hours can vary 10 + per day in addition for the need to work weekends and 7 or more days in a row depending on specific start-up schedules on projects and customer demands, which can vary. Customer interaction is required. Frequently, startup situations become very stressful under deadlines to meet a customer’s schedule or to overcome a situation where our customer may not be satisfied with progress or performance that is out of our control. Project managers are expected to help lead engineers through these situations in a calm and helpful manner.
Physical Demands
Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to walk long distances, occasionally climb permanent and temporary stairs, climb ladders, negotiate work areas under construction, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally requires use of construction personnel hoists. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job regularly requires effective use of hands, sitting, standing, talking, and hearing. Employees must occasionally lift and/or move heavy weights. Employees must be capable of using tools, and able to help install equipment and make adjustments/modifications to that equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works on-site at the construction worksite where the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in this work environment can be moderate to very loud.
