General Expectations
- Focus on student learning and well-being.
- Follow all school policies and procedures detailed in Le Jardin Academy Parent/Student Handbook and Working at Le Jardin Academy Guidelines and Procedures Handbook.
- Model proper behavior, thoughts, speech and dress.
- Exhibit a positive, caring attitude at all times.
- Work with your grade level teammates to provide a strong and dynamic team.
- Interact with all students and support their needs and interests.
- Supervise recess and lunch duties as well as assisting specialist teachers.
- Always position yourself strategically when supervising the playground. Avoid standing with co-workers when on duty.
- To ensure that you are available and ready to assist students, make sure your hands are free while supervising the sidewalk, patio or playground (i.e. no coffee cups or cellular phones).
- Avoid carrying in hand or using cellular phones in the classroom or on the playground. Make and receive personal calls only during breaks.
- Be available to assist students when sick or soiled.
- Tidy and clean PK sidewalk or JK exploratory patio as needed to ensure space is organized and safe.
- Setup and put away Blue Blocks once a week per grade.
Hours
- Refer to contract for normal working hours.
- Be available to work for the Extended Day Program on Professional Development Days.
- Absences
- Arrange for a substitute and inform the Site Director of your absence and substitute status.
- Advance approval from the Site Director is requested with at least one day’s notice for Personal Days
- Prepare and keep an emergency substitute folder with detailed work schedule and tasks, playground rules, and substitute teacher pay request form.
- Request and/or record absences on ADP in a prompt manner.
Communication
- Check your mailbox prior to the start of the day, and Le Jardin Academy email once a day, to ensure effective intra-school communication.
- Familiarize yourself with LJA Weekly and grade level newsletters posted online.
Meetings
- Attend the in-service session at the beginning of the school year.
Professional Development
- Participate in 16 hours of Health and Safety training required by DHS annually.
- Engage in the Professional Development Assessment process with the Supervisor.
Participation
- Participate in the Junior School Parent Night, a minimum of one Admissions Open House and one testing session.
