Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accounting Manager to oversee our accounting department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in governmental accounting, financial report writing, and financial analysis.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Manage daily financial services activities, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Oversee daily Cash Management for appropriate bank account balances.
- Review and approve check requests.
- Prepare budgets and forecasts, interact with division directors, and analyze budget data.
- Coordinate strategic planning processes and compile annual plans.
- Handle annual and interim federal and state tax filings, including quarterly tax calculations.
- Assist in accounting closes and financial statement preparation, including the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and GASB 68 and 75 reporting.
- Manage and mentor Financial Services staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and resolving employee issues.
- Assist with annual audits and ensure adequate insurance coverage.
- Design and code financial reports and support systems enhancements.
- Assess and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Provide oversight, guidance, and support for the Financial Services Division and handle special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from accredited college or university
- 7+ years of progressively responsible work experience in accounting, financial reporting, and analysis
- CPA or other relevant professional certification
- 5+ years of management or supervisory experience
- Strong computer skills including advanced Excel
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills, advanced accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills.
- Organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years audit experience
- Microsoft Dynamics, Management Reporter, and WDesk experience
