Agriculture Education Teacher
Reports To: High School Principal
JOB SUMMARY: To help students learn skills and knowledge that will contribute to their educational and social development in the agriculture industry. Under the general supervision of the principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Essential Functions:
- Follow all rules, policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to school issues.
- Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students and is compatible with the school, district and state guidelines.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
- Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
- Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
- Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
- Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for students and evaluate their job performance. Strive to maintain and improve professional competence. Participate in the development and support of the broad school vision.
- Attend school staff meetings, serves on staff committees and carries out non-instructional duties as required or assigned.
- Attend FFA events and assist students with competitive events.
- Work with School Administration, Guidance, and Career Development Coordinator to recruit students into the Agriculture Education Program.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required by the Principal.
- Cooperate with other CTE faculty in promoting activities of a FFA chapter and serve as an advisor for FFA.
Additional Duties:
· Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other administrators as designated by the Executive Director.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Demonstrate advanced aptitude in the agriculture field.
- Demonstrate strong content knowledge.
- Possess requisite math, writing, reading and communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to communicate well with school personnel, students, and parents.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignment.
- Ability to maintain order and discipline in a classroom.
- Ability to constantly monitor the safety and wellbeing of students.
- Recruit, encourage, and guide students in the construction courses and industry.
- Comply with confidentiality requirements in local, state and federal policies and statutes.
- Physical ability (able to exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally) and dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and accomplish specific tasks as requested.
- Ability to manufacture good quality product at the set rate of output.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignment.
- Ability to correctly set up and run the product in the correct order.
- Ability to correctly follow and give instructions.
Qualifications Profile:
· State Certification in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment
· Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
· Proper CTE certifications
Term of Employment: Twelve-month employment
