Duties:
- Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents such as contracts, briefs, and pleadings
- Manage and organize document management systems to ensure efficient retrieval of files
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases
- Proofread and edit legal documents for accuracy and clarity
- Transcribe dictations and prepare correspondence
- Perform data entry tasks to update case information and maintain accurate records
- File documents with the court and other relevant agencies
- Answer phone calls and provide excellent phone etiquette to clients and other parties
- Provide administrative support such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and making travel arrangements
- Perform general clerical duties such as photocopying, scanning, and filing
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a legal assistant or similar role
- Proficient in using document management systems and legal software
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Excellent proofreading skills with high attention to detail
- Fast and accurate typing skills for transcription purposes
- Familiarity with legal terminology, procedures, and court filing requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Professional demeanor with excellent phone etiquette
