lexible individual to fulfill the role of Licensed Vocational Nurse/Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) for all of our active ongoing inpatient clinical trials.
*We are looking to fill two overnight positions:*
*Position #1: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday - 7:00/8:00pm to 5:00/6:00am*
*Position #2: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 6:00/7:00pm to 7:00am.*
*Job Description* *General Summary:* The primary function of the Licensed Vocational Nurse/Certified Medical Assistant, under the guidance and supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), is to ensure medication and drug compliance along with ongoing patient safety and care at our inpatient facility. This role functions as an active part of the treatment and clinical research team, providing continuous care, supervision, medication management, and interaction to patients currently enrolled in our inpatient clinical trial(s). The Licensed Vocational Nurse works under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator, Sub-Investigator, and Management team in charge of running the clinical trial.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities* - This list is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the inpatient facility.
* Oversee medication management including administering, dispensing, and documentation. Notifies clinical staff and Principal Investigator of presence of side effects.
* Ability to interact therapeutically with patients and provide adequate supervision at all times during shift.
* Documents medical data in patient chart to capture protocol requirements.
* Conduct 15 minute checks; document appropriately and accurately.
* Responsible for overall well-being of patient during stay and upkeep of inpatient facility.
* Supervision of Mental Health Technician(s) working on unit is required.
* Communicates and collaborates with study team including internal and external parties, sponsors, Principal and Sub-Investigator(s), and study participants.
* Assist in admission and discharge of patients.
*Qualifications:*
* Licensed Vocational Nurse - must be current and provide proof of license
* CPR required (employer provided)
* One (1) to two (2) years of clinical nursing experience in a hospital, clinic, or similar health care setting, preferably mental health.
* Nursing competency skills per scope of practice (i.e., performing vital signs, nursing assessments, administering injections, dispensing medications, etc.)
* Previous clinical trials research experience is preferred.
* Knowledge of medical terminology, drug calculation skills, clinical medicine, clinical trials and GCP concepts.
* Detail oriented and meticulous in all aspects of work.
* Ability to proactively identify and solve problems, demonstrated initiative and strong follow through.
* Professional demeanor, strong communication skills with the public as well as physicians, clinical staff, and patients.
* Ability to work independently as well as in team environment.
* Strong interpersonal, customer service and multi-tasking skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel, electronic health systems and databases used in research environment, or the willingness and ability to learn and demonstrate proficiency.
* Knowledge of GCP, federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPA policies and procedures.
* Ability to sit, stand, stoop, walk, and interact regularly and frequently (or for extended periods of time) with clinical staff and patients.
*Experience*
* Minimum 1 year providing direct patient care to persons receiving treatment for psychiatric disorders is required, preferably in a behavioral healthcare setting.
* 2+ years of providing direct patient care to persons receiving treatment for psychiatric disorders is preferred, preferably in a behavioral healthcare setting.
* Some supervisory and scheduling experience preferred
