POSITION SUMMARY:
Borsheim Service Mechanics inspect, diagnose, maintain and repair any of our vehicle’s systems; From its body to engine, electrical, hydraulic, and computer systems. Fleet vehicles include cranes and boom trucks, crane equipment, forklifts, skid steers, trailers, pickup trucks, and semis.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (Including, but not limited to:)
- Responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on diesel engines, booms, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, brakes and other basic components.
- Operate hoists, forklifts, and/or hand trucks to handle, dismantle and reassemble heavy material and equipment.
- Repair and replace damaged or worn parts on vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to operate and perform thorough inspection of machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
- Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers’ and OEM specifications.
- Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
- Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
- Fabricates, modifies and installs special equipment or replacement parts using welders, torch sets, plasma cutter and metal cutting saws.
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
- Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
- Repair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systems.
- Perform and schedule maintenance for vehicles and equipment, and keep accurate service records.
- Must work well and communicate effectively with operators, other mechanics and management.
- Clean parts by spraying them with grease solvent or immersing them in tanks of solvent.
- Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures.
- Wear common protective or safety equipment, such as safety boots, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hat as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor as needed.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience with diesel engines, hydraulic, and electrical systems required.
- Experience with gasoline and propane engines.
- Proven ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Class A CDL (required) accompanied with a clean driving record (preferred.)
- Must be willing and able to travel.
- Must have the ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Must be able to pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen.
- Must have a current DOT Physical.

o Sit: Ability to sit while driving/traveling to work locations.
o Climb (equipment) and balance: Able to ascend/descend and work atop to service equipment.
o Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl: Ability to position oneself and to move freely.
o Talk and Hear: Ability to communicate, detect, converse with others, discern, convey, express oneself, and exchange information.
o Carry weight, lift: Ability to move, transport, position, put/install, and remove parts, equipment, and tools that are 70 lbs.+ continuously.
COMPENSATION: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour DOE.
