Job Summary:
We are seeking a candidate who has a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree and is licensed in Washington D.C. The PIC must possess strong communication and leadership skills and several years of experience as a pharmacist. They must motivate and manage pharmacy staff effectively while maintaining a focus on patient safety and overall pharmacy success. As part of their duties, they must also be well-versed in medication safety, drug interactions, and other areas of pharmacy practice.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise pharmacy staff to ensure efficient operations.
- Oversee medication dispensing, and distribution processes.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Conduct patient assessments and provide pharmaceutical care services.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy outcomes.
- Provide pain management recommendations and counseling to patients.
- Maintain accurate patient records and medication profiles.
- Verify prescription details with the healthcare specialists who prescribed them when required.
- Provide guidance on the recommended use, dosage, and possible side effects of medication.
- Maintain an approved drug and controlled substances list and verifying expiry dates.
- Monitor product displays, shelves, and the general appearance of the pharmacy.
- Address customers’ requests and concerns.
- Keep accurate records of inventory, patient information, and insurance claims.
Requirements:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution
- Active pharmacist license in the District of Columbia (DC)
- Completion of a pharmacy residency program preferred
- Proficiency in medical terminology and acute care pharmacy practices
- Experience in pediatric pharmacy services is a plus
- Strong patient service orientation and excellent communication skills
Preferred qualifications
- Proficient with pharmacy management software, such as Pioneer Rx Pharmacy System.
- Certified immunizer
- 3+ years of pharmacy experience in a retail setting including prescription filling and verification, records and legal compliance, pharmacy operations, pharmacy software, and technology systems and insurance
- Experience performing prescription dispensing
- Strong working knowledge of applicable state and federal controlled substance laws.
