The Curl Boutique
The Curl Boutique is Maine’s first salon for curly hair. Founded in 2017, the Curl Boutique (CB) team provides the latest and greatest in services for curly hair. From the slightest of bends to the tightest coils, all curls are welcome.
The Curl Boutique is a team-based salon meaning every team member is an employee of the company. This promotes and cultivates a supportive environment where everyone is working towards the same goal: providing a salon experience CB clients can’t get anywhere else. Stylist
CB team members thrive in our lively, synergetic, client-oriented atmosphere. Our floor team is considered the heartbeat of the salon; as such, CB stylists should describe themselves as comfortable and confident in a decisive, multi-faceted role.
Reports to:
Regular Responsibilities
- Provide the very best in curly hair services to a variety of clients from slight waves to tight coils
- Ready salon spaces to provide services to clients including (but not limited to):
- Station preparation and turnover
- Client consultation and preparation (proper draping)
- In-sink duties
- Rinsing
- Product application
- Toning
- Et al
- Mixing color/lightener
- Drying and diffusing
- Product recommendations and consultations
- Fluffing, appointment closeout, and handoff
- With training, represent and make recommendations for our product lines and accessories including: , , , , , , , , , , and
- Service an average of three to ten clients per day
- Maintain state licensures
- Work with a stylist assistant to provide services when necessary
- Maintain an incredibly meticulous salon, sanitizing regularly and routinely including Barbiciding all combs, clips, and tools
- Actively support all members of the Curl Boutique team; proactively seek out opportunities to help the team
- Persistently manage several work streams throughout the day, prioritizing along the way and never leaving undone ends
- Engagingly participate in regularly scheduled team meetings, special events, retreats, and team-building activities several times throughout the year
- Enthusiastically accept important other duties as assigned including (but not limited to) cleaning, restocking, organizing, replenishing, washing, drying, and folding laundry, cleaning and filling the back bar, and much, much more
Occasional Responsibilities
- Warmly offer beverages or other amenities to clients, delivering exact requests quickly and graciously
- After provided training, be familiar with the our web-based salon management platform, Phorest; occasionally cash out clients and schedule appointments
- Skillfully collect social media such as video and photographs content for future use; occasionally create content
- Utilize for salon communication
Desired or Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Active State of Maine Cosmetology License by date of hire
- Coachability
- Prior salon/spa experience
- Computer proficiency and comfortability
- Desire to learn and develop expertise in salon systems

Qualifications
- High School diploma (or equivalent) and further education preferred but not required
- Minimum of two years experience in one or more of the following industries will be strongly considered: customer service, cosmetology, hospitality, administrative, spa/salon
- A valid Maine state cosmetology license, or plans to transfer one from another state
Schedule
- Full (32-40) or part time (20-31) hours are available for the right candidate
- The anticipated start date for this position is as soon as possible in 2024
- In August and September 2024, the schedule for this position will generally be:
- Tuesdays: between 8:45 AM - 7:00 PM
- Wednesdays: between 8:45 AM - 5:00 PM
- Thursdays: between 8:45 AM - 7:00 PM
- Fridays: between 8:45 AM - 7:00 PM
- Saturdays: between 8:45 AM - 3:00 PM
- Shifts can include either a 30-minute paid lunch break or a 60-minute unpaid lunch break
- Shifts can vary from four hours to ten hours
- Beginning October 2024, the schedule for this position will generally be:
- Wednesdays: between 8:45 AM - 5:00 PM
- Thursdays: between 8:45 AM - 7:00 PM
- Fridays: between 8:45 AM - 5:00 PM
- Saturdays: between 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM
- Shifts can include either a 30-minute paid lunch break or a 60-minute unpaid lunch break
- Shifts can vary from four hours to ten hours
Compensation
- Starting pay for this position is $20 per hour; this is negotiable based on experience
- The Curl Boutique values growth, and this includes financially; as such:
- All employees are eligible for annual pay increases based upon individual performance
- All employees are eligible to earn monthly bonuses based upon team performance valued from $25+
- The Curl Boutique believes employee benefits should be considered when determining the value of being a part of the team
