1. Translate blueprint instructions, operation sheets and computerized directions into specific building requirements and action.
2. Assemble optical and mechanical units to required tolerances and requirements.
3. Conduct hydraulic & pneumatic pressure tests and vacuum & dew point tests to determine integrity of pressure boundaries and establish acceptable dew points.
4. Properly set up and operate machining equipment including drill press, bench lathe, engraving machine and milling machine.
5. Conduct complex cleaning duties directly related to output quality.
6. Comply with KEO rules and requirements including 5S responsibilities applicable to the cleaning, operation and maintenance of all equipment and areas including personal working area and common area, ensuring the safety of oneself and others.
7. Comply with the company rules and requirements regarding the proper use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and quality safety processes designed to protect all associates working within or near the assembly floor.
8. Correctly operate various types of cranes (Jib, side-pull, overhead.) to carefully move material and products through assembly and test phases of manufacture. Lifts considered critical such as the installation of a D&C to the mast and the subsequent installation into the tower will be performed by Grade 7.
9. Perform general housekeeping activities.
10. Identify and follow all production processes.
GRADE 5:
- Work to a tolerance of 15 seconds on optical parts and .001” mechanical.
- Set up and operate engraving machines, drill press, milling machine and bench lathe to a tolerance of .002”.
- Responsible for own work including set up.
- Distinguish quality defects and bring to the attention of supervisor or group leader. • Final clean the more complicated assemblies or instruments.
D. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Fine motor dexterity & hand/eye coordination.
2. 20/20 vision including depth-perception and the ability to recognize colors, with or without the use of glasses or corrective lenses.
3. Must be able to lift 50 lbs, sit or stand for up to 8 hours and climb stairs.
They will provide all measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
Mechanical Assembly - Understand and interpret drawings. Sequencing of routers. Follow work directions of mechanical assembly. Levels are based on tolerances. Tighter is higher level. Calipers. Least complex (screws, bolts, covers. Align, assemble, tightem to torque.) More skilled – Tight tolerances, spacing (10lbs into a 5lb pail). Interplay between many small assemblies. Understanding of interdependency of builds. –
A&P licensed mechanic type skill. Lock-tight type application, glass, handling.
