Location: Must reside within driving distance of Martinsburg, WV
Status: Part-time or Full-time
Job Purpose: This faculty member teaches lecture, lab, clinical locally to students who live in Martinsburg, WV. Lecture is taught fully online via our our learning management system. Lab is taught in person at a local facility. Clinical can be held at a variety of hospital facilities. Clinicals and Labs are held throughout the week and on the weekends.
Qualifications (Required):
Education and Experience : Graduation from an accredited program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in the specialty field or subject area in which they teach. A minimum of an Associate Degree from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and graduation from a CoARC accredited Respiratory Therapy Program. Three years of practical experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist or professionals with advanced degrees or with experience and training in a field or discipline related to respiratory care (e.g., physicians, pharmacists, and nurses, etc.).
Certification/Licensure: Current certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and a current license from the West Virginia Board of Respiratory Care, or professionals with advanced degrees or with experience and training in a field or discipline related to respiratory care (e.g., physicians, pharmacists, and nurses, etc.). Other professionals must hold current certification and/or credentials appropriate for their profession.
Teaching Experience: Minimum of 1 year teaching experience as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students in such programs.

Responsibilities:
Instruction:
o Provide education through learner-centered instruction that will enable graduates to fulfill the evolving needs of the marketplace.
o Relate professional/life/industry experience to learning by the continuation of professional/technical skills development, the introduction of industry perspective into courses, and the active awareness of professional/industry trends and opportunities.
o Encourage a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility and respect, life-long learning and ethics as well as personal and professional development.
o Promote student morale and to create within the institution an atmosphere of “teamwork” and “success” among faculty, students and staff.
o Plan, schedule, and execute a minimum of one community resource activity per class each quarter and ensure that all documentation regarding the activity is obtained and submitted to the Academic Dean.
o Provide accurate and daily attendance in compliance with the institution’s system of monitoring individual class absences.
o Remain current with instructional tools, technologies and strategies and utilize those skills to maximize instructional effectiveness.
Student Support:
o Respond to student inquiries with immediacy and a sense of urgency.
o Return student work with meaningful feedback in a timely fashion that allows them to stay continuously aware of their academic progress.
o Continuously monitor student participation, engagement and progress to identify early warning signs of student challenges, and develop and implement methods for mitigating those challenges.
o Identify at-risk students, providing additional support and advising, and report them to the Program Director/Coordinator.
o Promote and, if asked, help organize various student social functions.
o Contribute to a learning culture by participating on curriculum and system task committees, supporting local campus events such as orientation and graduation, and participating in various other workshops and meetings.
Meetings and Profession Development:
o Participate in faculty meetings when scheduled
o Participate in and maintain documentation of professional development activities as directed
o Participate in and maintain documentation of in-service activities as directed

o Manage the learning environment through keeping accurate records, submitting grades and other reports on time, and enforcing school/campus academic and attendance policies.
o Maintain accurate, legible and up-to-date records of the activities associated with carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position.
o Participate in curriculum improvements, textbook revisions, equipment needs and any other items designed to improve the educational quality and relevance to the job market.
